Yes hourly, I understand all things being relative to the situation but laying on my back in a parking lot with junk tools and a flashlight is getting old. i also loos money by loosing time out of the day to make my runs. maybe i am making a bigger deal out of this than i should.
I am a driver not a mechanic...!!

But, smaller companies, I expect, may kinda need the drivers to be able to accomplish minor mechanical repairs like changing quick release valves.
yes, and i understand. with the wrong tools a concrete parking lot at 3am with a flashlight working off of a cardboard box for a creeper and pinned between the axles with no room to get out bla bla bla it gets stupid fast..!Magoo1968 Thanks this. -
Light bulbs, fuses, and wiper blades are one thing, but there's no way I'm attempting to repair or replace a valve. I personally don't want the liability.

What was discussed in your interview as far as expectations you have for the company?
What was discussed as far as their expectations out of you?
what was discussed as far as the job duties they expect you to do?
What was discussed on pay?
I bet none of it.
As Americans people need to stop looking to the government for protection from everything including themselves. Illegal that’s greatIsafarmboy, singlescrewshaker, jason6541 and 8 others Thank this. -
A little wrench turning won’t kill you. -
Sometimes I wish my company would pay for the parts and let me do more! Waiting around for someone to waste 4 hours to handle small repairs is quite annoying!
-
If you're having to do this quite a bit, it's probably time to find a new job.
sevenmph and JolliRoger Thank this. -
signs your checks and review with him. Opinions here will not settle the matter.
Like peeing your dark pants, Gives you a warm feeling, but no one notices.kaptainkhaos, Bean Jr. and TravR1 Thank this. -
I don’t think you should be required to repair the Truck. If hourly, and losing money. I take it the runs don’t pay hourly. I never had a problem changing a light, or fixing something minor if stranded. Beats waiting on a repair Truck. The exception is a mudflap I tore off, or mirror I broke. I fixed it, and kept my mouth shut.

Seems to me you would lose a lot more time and loads waiting for someone else to fix it and a parking lot beats the hell out of mud or gravel. You could also spend a few dollars and get better tools if it makes it easier.
OldeSkool, slow.rider and Cattleman84 Thank this.
