I hate to say it, but not finding a trucking job right now may be the best thing that has happened to you. Nothing is moving, no freight, no work, no hire.

I would much rather go broke in my living room than some God forsaken truck stop.

The outfit I am/was working for informed me they are going t-ts up at the end of the month when the insurance is renewing. I called one of my previous employers yesterday and was just rehired today over at Jones Motor. They have a little freight, but not much. At least my wife is happy!

As soon as I can sell this truck and trailer, I am GONE! Sick of this, time to move on.

Landstar? I get the joke, I know some guys over there and have dealt with them for a few years now. They used to be on the ball, now it is the Amway of trucking.

I'll stick it out with Jones till spring. I will be getting some for sale signs to stick on the truck & trailer while waiting in the truck stops. Maybe I will get lucky!

Simple truth is... it's affecting everything..... that what it's not now affecting isn't far off.

A year ago there were 1300 building permits issued this month, this year... 3. ( in this county )

That is going to adversly affect everything right on down the supply chain. I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but it is gonna get worse ( alot worse ) before it gets better. Just wait till the bailouts hit all the credit card companys that are funding millions of people right now for their rent, food and gas because they ( the people ) dont have jobs but need to feed the family.

We, this country, is in a bit of a pile of the warm smelly stuff. Time .... my friends.. is all that will tell the story!!

Find a Government job:biggrin_25525: they always pull through ( sigh )

I agree. I don't understand everybodies glory thoughts of driving a truck. To me all these new drivers are not doing there research in transportation and truck driving. They need to go to any truckstop and just look and see all the trucks sitting. And they're not making a dime to sit there. There is no other job in the world that will not pay you while you are at work and this no pay time can be 20-30 or more hrs a week. It has been said time and time again, but i'll say it again. FREIGHT STINKS right now and TRUCK DRIVING IS NOT THE JOB IT USED TO BE, THERE IS NO MONEY IN IT RIGHT NOW GOING OTR. If you have no exp, get an education or specialized training(not trucking) and enjoy your life. Truck driving will pick up again one day but not until the economy picks up and people buy products from stores. The only way to make money right now driving a truck is if you have exp and a clean record. OTR is shot out, and exp drivers now it, and that is why all these companies are only hiring newbs. If you got exp money can be made doing foodservice, beverage delivery, and trash disposal companies. People will always eat, drink and make waste no matter how bad it gets.

But you dont understand...My recruiter was so loving and nice to me when i gave him his $8,000 for my ''trucker collage''.And he told me i was gonna make at least 40,000 a year starting

.But you don't understand sir,I have a master plan ''on paper'' and i will be the one to ''change'' all this nonsence, because i am ''SUPER TRUCKER'':biggrin_25511:

BUT THATS WHY I TRULY WANT TO GO TRUCKING.I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING THAT RESEBLES A LIFE HERE.I WANNA RUN AWAY AND HAVE FREE ROOM AND BOARD IN MY ''CONDO''

BUT I AM NOT TELLING YOU THE WHOLE TRUTH..I NEED A PLACE TO STAY ALSO.I REALLY NEED THE O.T.R. BECAUSE I AM HOMELESS AND NEED SHELTER

BUT SIR I CAN NOT DO THAT EITHER,I AM A RECLUSE AND I WANNA HAVE MY ''FREE'' ROOM AND BOARD AND SEE THE COUNTRY.I CERTAINLY CAN NOT WORK WHERE I LIVE,PEOPLE MIGHT SEE ME IN A ''SMALL TRUCK''...I CAN'T HAVE THAT...

ROLMFAO.....SORRY I HAD TO....THEY JUST WILL NOT LISTEN TO US EXP DRIVERS...THEY DONT GET IT...

That was great POD1. But sad in a way because we know this is what they are thinking because 95% of them always come out saying " I DO NOT CARE ABOUT HOMETIME, I JUST WANT TO DRIVE". Heck they might as well become hermits and live under a bridge. It's funny how this always changes in a short period of time and they start screaming about wanting a local job. haha. Typical newb talking here, "I HAVE 3-6 MONTHS EXP OTR AND I WANT A LOCAL JOB SO I CAN BE HOME FOR "INSERT JUST ABOUT ANYTHING HERE". lol. Honest answer is NO, you have no exp for local now go deliver that freight 300 miles from here 4 days from now. haha

To all the people reading this, i am not posting this to tick anyone off but if it does , good, then at least you are listening. If you have no exp, Do youself a favor and get an education and have a real life. And if down the road when the economy has rebounded and you still want to drive then great, go for it. Go see the country without a log book.
