Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
I am about to give up!

Where do we find those port jobs? I'm in Jersey.... nothing in the paper...
-
this may or may not help you but i actually found driving jobs on craigs list. also i just started looking up truck driving jobs on the internet. might not be the exact thing that a person wants but its a start.
also where i live there is a lot of container activity so there are a lot of carriers who do nothing but that. appear on their doorsteps, maybe you could start out talking to someone who knows some o/o's that would take you on. also contact people who shuttle trailers, maybe they need help. expedited carriers are starting to pick up business wise. monster is also a good place to look. like they say, let your fingers do the walking... best of luck!Last edited by a moderator: May 10, 2009

Before reading this post i was planning on 3 weeks of trucking school. Now i'm not so sure of that. I don't have any violations on my driving record and no wrecks at all. Me and my wife were talking team with swift or covenant, but from all the posts, i think the local tire shop at 7 bucks a hour sounds like gravy to me.

I did Tire busting,.. "back in the day"
It payed $12 per. man hr.... That was in the early 80's
HOW, in the hell,.. can it only pay $7 ??... "That's hard work"
I hope things get better, I'm truly sorry for your difficulty.

I just found out that those guys who hold a sign and shake it to advertise restaurants get $7/hr. here in Atlanta. But they want you to be 'energetic' all day! Huh.
Most of the local van delivery, chauffeur jobs seem to pay about $9 - $14/hr. max.
I could actually live on the $14 though. But not very well. -
My thought is, you never know till you try.
