Don't forget about the Big Orange. They hire medical types that can still drive.
I was on Disability for over 10 months and once I got the letter from my Doctor I was hired by them. Not a bad company to roll with and I make decent pay.
I am being turned down more than I thought I would...

Since you have a family you had better find a company that runs thru your area or you will never get home...
-
Try also:
May Trucking,
Con-Way Truckload,
JB Hunt,
Crete/Shaffer/Hunt (This would be my #1 pick)
Heartland Express,
Prime,
CR England, (Last choice)
There's lots of others but can't think of more at the moment. Whatever you do, don't sign up for any of these companies lease (fleece) deals for at least a year, if ever. Also, as others have stated, don't jump ship before you have a solid year in, preferably two.
One more thing. Don't hesitate to call these companies back after a day or two. Some times you get a recruiter who's having a bad day and they'll only talk to you if you "fit the mold". Call them back and you may get someone else or that same person on a better day. What have you go to loose? They've already said "NO", right?
Good luck. -
Yeah...I actually talked to a Schneider recruiter last night before class and he had a few good things to say...
First he was honest about the opportunity that a new driver has within a company. He was a team recruiter, and said that he was biased towards recruiting for team positions...but that he would work with me regardless if he makes his cut or not.
He said that there are a few team spots ready to go in my area. He said that I would have the better equipment since they give the better trucks to team drivers, and that I could have priority dispatch and mechanic service. He said I could be guaranteed 99% drop and hook, and an average 1500 mile run when doing team. He said that 2000-3000 miles a week can be expected, but starting out I may not be able to drive a full 10-11 hours a day. He also said that they split the miles the truck rolls and not a lesser cpm.
How much of what he said is BS, and how much is him being honest? -
Is that 1500 miles for the truck or just you? Teams should be able to average 4000-5000 a week (so they say)

OK Trip and per week is different..
From all that I read here 1500 per trip is sounding kind of high. As for the team mileage it's all a matter of trust. The more the planner/dispatch trusts you to get there on-time the more you will get. Just don't ticked them off.. -
I sent you a PM

It's very easy for a company to say no when you apply by phone or e-mail. They take the best that's on paper. What I would do in your case is keep appling like you have been but also I would get out and look for myself. You can download a list of companies in your area then refine the list to what you want then go see them. It's much better to explain your situation face to face than over the phone. Don't pay too much attention to the experience requirement because alot of companies know other companies that will hire you. And you never know they may be self-insured and need a driver right then and there. You need to step up your game and be aggressive in your job hunting. Do not put too much faith into recruiters or the school. They do what's best for them. Good luck and get out there and work!

Celadon, Marten, Falcon, DOT...
TMC if you want to flat bed.
And if a company you like shows some interest, get to know as much as you can about that company's history. It shows you are interested in them as well. Don't forget to be the squeaky wheel.BigJohn54 Thanks this.
