today was a good day. i didnt have that jerk in the truck that was telling me to "stop playing with myself and get this truck moving". we were both in our own trucks. i ran the truck the way i felt was appropriate, NO this did not mean a measly 3 second following distance. i ran no faster then 5 above the speed limit and i kept a minimum 6-8 seconds following distance, i also slowed down for turns. I am responsible for the safe operation of the truck, neither him no my boss will ever tell me differently. my boss actually has never told me to drive like an dolt, only this guy that was training me. i dont need nor want the stress, i dont need nor want an accident. the minute my boss gives me poor advice like that i cut bate and get out of dodge. if anyone ever tries to run me harder then what safety allows, there are other trucking jobs out there....... thanks for the experience and driving time but here are your keys and my notice effective immediately. so as long as my boss is not the one pushing my buttons i will ignore mr. supertrucker and drive the way i know best that will safely keep the wheels turning without hurting or killing anyone.
my advice DONT ALLOW ANYONE to ask you to drive unsafely. the driver is captain of the ship. super truckers are usually morons.
i AM "captain of the ship"

I love it when someone gets busted for being way over on the HOS and the first things out of their mouths is ,"My boss told me I had to" or they say a dispatcher pushed them into it or some other idiotic excuse.

we each did 5 loads exactly. come to think of it i dont know how this jerk really drives. i have never ridden while he drove. it could be that he WANTS to see the new guy get an an accident. if that's the truth...... shameful.

I have run into people like that in the past, I generally just proceed as normal for me. One or two barked, I say to them, I don't wanna hear it. If you have a problem we go outside. That usually settles it.Muddydog79 and Shock Therapy Thank this. -
Shock Therapy, x1Heavy and bzinger Thank this.

Good drivers don't have to brag about it. Their records and any awards they may have earned will speak for themselves.

You wouldn't happen to be around Rochester, Ny would you? That sounds like a lot of the stone haulers in my area. 7 loads is also the standard for most drivers here as well as driving like a lunatic.
Shock Therapy Thanks this.
