seriously, work on paying down your debt. if you get into a lease/purchase deal, and you have bad credit now, and your truck needs repairs, how will you pay for it..???
continue working as a company driver, gain MORE experience, then have better credit, and buy a truck on your own, then lease it to a company, or work through a brokerage house.
"buy here pay here" are usually HIGHER interest rates and they repo faster than a hooker can "snap it shut" and cut your "thingy off".....
pretty much what i have said...
correct, they will suck him dry and leave him out on the corner, worse off than ever before...
correct, he will not be able to afford any repairs, or eat, of maybe even buy fuel..
I am confused as a smart monkey! O/O, L/O or company driver?

I wanna thank you all you guys for your sincere responses...yes 530 is to low it happen that I just finished to pay my credit card hoping it will raise my FICO a little bit but I still have another to debts that I need to check with a professional to find out what to do with it. I own my house pay only 300 monthly mortgage own only 15k on it but the bad news is that they do not report it to the credit companies besides that I am not on other debt. Yes Ill being talking with the family about what to do best and we're agree with the advice being a company driver for some time and have a chance to save some money to buy a truck later until I gain more experience. In the future we would like to move to an other "more civilized place" pardon me LA and mostly all CA I don't like it is just not my taste I saw other states where kids look like "normal" kids playing outside and people with more education not angry or crazy!
There's a small company with 7 trucks offering me a job they pay 40 to 44 c per mile as a team. I still can't figure it out how much can that turn on my check but it will be showed later. They also offered drive solo after a month making 30cpm sometimes hauling dry others refer.
All I can say this is a great forum I'm hoping to keep myself posting my own experiences for others to come! -

seriously, if you could NOT figure out the team split, and even try to come up with "some numbers", you will fail as an o/o.
IT IS IMPERATIVE YOU KNOW THE NUMBERS...!!!
best you stay a company driver, you really don't have what it takes to be an owner-operator. -

I believe you are miss calculating by 50%
Ummm someone correct my math if I'm wrong here ..... 40x 6000=2400 So a team @ 6000 miles at 40cpm is $2400.00 Split which would be $1200 ea before taxes... So your take home would probably be closer to $900-$1000ea... not $660 before taxes... just sayin..
at 20cpm that would be on 6000 not on the 3000... so therefore each persons take would still be = $1200 ea before taxes... Know the numbers
or at 44 cpm @ 6000 miles is $2640 Split = $1320 ea before taxes..Last edited: Jul 17, 2012
