Hello to you all, I have enjoyed and found very informative reading all the post on this board. In my humble opinion this a great board. Thanks to the staff and all who participate. After much reading I am going to jump in! And go to Sage Trucking School to get my credentials and join the industry. I do have a few Questions. I am worried if my age 56 is a problem. I am also wondering if times are so hard that getting on as a trainee after I graduate is hard. My driving record and criminal record is clean. Any input from you all would be much appreciated.

Payzo, really your age should not be a problem as long as you are in good health and can pass a DOT physical. This is a good 2nd (or 3rd) career. Check to see if your school has pre-hire arrangements with any companies. The most common companies for pre-hires are Schneider, Swift, and Werner. Others are available depending on the school. Of those three, Schneider has the BEST reputation by far. Most people who go to train at Werner or Swift get their required 1-2 years experience and move on. Many, many stay at Schneider their entire careers. And no, I am not a Schneider driver! :biggrin_25525:

With as you mentioned your driving and criminal backgrounds are good your age is not the factor.

As long as your health is good is the next step.

Go to the doctor have them do a full blood work: diabetes, blood pressure, etc. and if all looks good no problems.

With age comes life experience and so-on and so-on..........

    Good luck...................
