Why are you guys so butthurt about guys wanting a wage with the buying power equivilant to a driver that started off 20 years ago? This is a dangerous, dirty, soul sucking job that takes you away from your family for weeks or months at a time. Pardon me for not accepting that. Right now, you have to be crazy or just not have much of a life if you're willing to be a career OTR driver. I'm making a decent OTR rate at a company that gives me good miles atm, but I won't be here long. Not worth it.

Active duty and reserves, in the military, along with other civilian occupations as overseas contract work can take people away from their families for long stretches of time. This can also hold true for law enforcement people engaging in long term undercover work assignments.

    LOL. Ok.
Got a link to a reputable source?
But wait, no. Never mind. I can't get my giveashiatmeter to register high enough.
Don't stop believin' everything you read on the INTERNET.
And don't take the word of people who've seen it with their own eyes, either.

Yellow, I thought that you were smarter than this.
Traditionally, American dollars have not only been accepted, without question, worldwide; they were also practically worshipped as an accepted form of exchange.
    No more. And that's my point;
What once was, is no more. And for what it's worth, wherever the dollar is even so much as mentioned, scoffing and leering seem to follow.
There is a complete lack of respect for us, our currency, and nearly everything associated with us, with the possible exception of some third world countries, nearly worldwide.
And no, that lack of respect doesn't stem from our "freedoms" or our "abundant lifestyles".
We continue to be told that we are living some sort of utopian lifestyle; that we have so much more than everyone else. I look around here and I see an ever increasing populace living in abject poverty. Nobody has any dough anymore.
I then cross the big pond and I see so much more wealth, and even with much higher taxes, they are getting something back for their money as in "social", uh oh! programs instead of a huge military that exists only to make as much money for itself as possible.
    You don't like my tirade?
Perhaps the real issue here is that the truth frightens you.
Thank your lucky boots that there are a few people out there that have the common sense, spiced up with a little courage, to comment on reality.

    Please clarify.

How is being paid near $100,000 per year wrong for working the equivalent of two 35-hour-per-week jobs, never being home, suffering the stresses and health risks of driving a heavy vehicle with no possibility of overtime pay?
Break that down to about $66,000 after taxes and it sounds pretty ###### fair to me and that's only about 15 bucks an hour net pay averaged against the 70 hour workday.
That seems ###### fair to me, if not a little on the low side.

What part of that does not compute and why?
