People, it makes absolutely no difference how much we think a job is worth, how much it should pay, what it pays in relation to other jobs,or any other measuring stick you want to use.
It all comes down to 'SUPPLY AND DEMAND'. So long as drivers will turn the steering wheel for 30 cpm ( or whatever ), these companies are not going to pay more. Employers do not really care how much they pay for any job, as long as it is the best value, and everyone pays about the same, nobody gets it done cheaper. The amount does not matter, if it is the best deal available.
Supply and demand runs every business, and if there is a supply of low wage drivers, there is no need for a company to pay more.

Kind of sad to think of the lifestyle from 30+ years ago is like a distant dream now. Seems like it was easy (relatively) to join the workforce and get a job that supported your wife and kids, decent house and a car in the driveway. Now you're either in debt up to your eyeballs to do that, your wife works and/or your parents were doctors and got you a good college education (an exaggeration, I know).

You can complain about "Generation X" and their lack of morals, conviction and self entitlement, but no one likes to consider who raised this generation. For Christ's sake, you gave us participation trophies, lol!!! It's not a nationwide birth defect, lol. Just doing the best we can with the scraps we've had tossed to us in this society.

A little off topic, but thanks for appreciating that the work force is not nearly the same as people with experience on here remember.

I agree but if companies were required to pay that much especially the mega's I think they would probably close up shop.

What is usually missing is value to society. Seems sometimes that the more value a job has, the less it pays. Without trucking, America stops. May be a cliche to a degree, but it is still true. It to some degree doesn't matter exactly what we actually do or don't do. Our pay should in some way be tied to our value to society. But I know that's a dream that will never happen. If true VALUE to society were figured into it, school teachers, police, firefighters and many other jobs would make a heck of a lot more, and pro athletes, actors, singers and politicians would make a lot less.

A vicious cycle of mostly greed
With the Gov. and big business sucking the life out of America. Unfortunately the little guy is the brunt of the joke. However there will be time when it will comes back on them as well

That's true, but unfortunately, that's pretty much invalidated by the rest of the workforce being undervalued too. The job markets pretty lousy now. There aren't that many jobs that pay significantly over minimum wage now, without a college degree that is. Heck, getting a 15 dollar job is pretty good now. Compared to what a decent driving job pays, that's nothing. I don't think we're ever going to see the prophesied driver shortage people claim is coming. They'll either get their steady supply of CDL mill students to grind through, or put more immigrants behind the wheel.

With all the extra regulations the FMCSA is throwing out every year, it seems like their trying their best to get more drivers to quit.

That is true much because of the national unemployment problem and I don't see it changing until all these multi national loop holes are closed and jobs are brought back to America.
