I find it interesting that you say that you are getting $0.45/mile with 0-1 year of experience. How many miles per week do you average?

Loyalty is a two way street. Companies are made up of people. If you only look out for yourself without giving any thought for others, then that is how you will be treated. If you want others to have your back, then you need to make sure to have their back. There are some good people in this business. Money is important, but believe it or not, there are more things that are much more important. If your only motivation is money, you are heading toward a very lonely existence.

I was grossing 45 cpm in my first job out of CDL school with no experience. Small company, paper logs, fast and loose, trucks governed at 73 mph. Lasted all of six weeks. Running exhausted, worried about the logs, blah blah blah. Still not worth the money to me. No dollar value on being away from the kids. Still not worth it, sorry.

These guys don't know loyalty, or much else. Especially the "earning" part.

It is pretty easy to make $1000. a week and be home every night. I almost do that when I am sick. What is wrong is that the shippers cant find flatbeds to pull their freight and they wont pay more to get their load delivered. All year several shippers and some receivers have had trouble getting what they want done. they say they cant pay more because they aren't making a profit. there is a shortage of trucks. the big companies are in the board room talking about it while they have 30 trucks lined up waiting 3 hours to load because production comes before shipping according to the mbas. Because some people can save money, like me, in almost any environment doesn't excuse the persecution that truckers go through. I am subject to unreasonable search and seizure. I can be convicted of what ever the man writes on the paper without a day in court. I deserve to get paid for my experience and ability to persevere through what sometime is a sixteen hour day (one day a week). I should prosper. My grandchildren should be able to go to private schools or something. I should get mandatory vacations at a south sea island. I should get automatic bonuses when ever a four wheelers brake lights disappear in front of my hood. i could go on and on and on well anyhow.

well the problem is when you tend to make more you spend more you should probally try to spend less like you were living on a lower wage I dont know if this is the situation but if not get some experience and move on to a company that pays more

Truckers aren't underpaid. Hell, some of them are WAY overpaid. Too many people without two brain cells rubbing together who constantly say "Well I don't go here" and "I don't chain" or "I'm tired, WAAAAAAA!!!" with their hands out for more money but think they're going to dictate to the owners of the company about what they will or won't do. And this isn't about O/O's. This is about company drivers. You own the wheel, you get to say that "You won't". Because it's your right. It's your truck. I can't tell you the number of times I've heard some idiot say what he won't do and in the same breath tell me how he's not making money. That load goes to NYC then that's where you take it. You gotta chain over Snoqualmie to get to Seattle then that's what you do. You got a load from Florida to Cali, and say "I don't go to "Commiefornia" and then cry because you aren't making your miles. No. Truck drivers are not "underpaid". Some are, but many aren't. I get tired of hearing about how nobody respects us or we don't make enough money or blah blah blah blah, but God forbid some of them make an effort to look like a professional or get the ###### freight there on time.

Oh my god you aren't kidding. They have all the money in the world for the dumb Bluetooth that makes them look like a McD's employee, 3 GPS units, the Duck Dynasty 5 season box set, and all the over priced ridiculous looking clothes from the truck stop. Hey, geniuses, a heads up for you. Those shirts that say 'Merica? Apparently you and the makers didn't know that's a way of making fun of you. But you'll spend $15 on it. Lol. And then instead of a fridge or cooler, they are constantly in the restaurants and the fast food. You wonder how they are always broke.....
