I don't think i really want to do anything else in life. Just join the military, for a few years until i'm 21, get out, start OTR trucking and enjoying my life on the road. I hear trucking is what you make of it so i plan to get a internet hotspot, a laptop, and maybe a gaming console to play on my down time and stuff. I'm sure i'll find ways to enjoy myself. I just really do not feel like doing anything else for a living. A job is a job right? Something that all jobs have in common is the fact that we need to do them to earn money, and that they all have their good and bad sides. Why should i strive to be a doctor or a lawyer or something fancy like that when i could honestly enjoy my life trucking? Trucking just seems like the way to go for me. Always on the move, and talking to new people every day even if that means only at truck stops or the place where you drop off your load. I'm just longing to hit the open road, blast some heavy metal, make money, and enjoy my life. I don't really feel like i need to do anything "Special" for a living like every other civilian is brain washed to believe. "You must go to college" "You must go to medical school" "you must be an engineer"
Why can't i just be a trucker?! I really don't care what others would think of my job decision, because i honestly doubt they'd be able to do my job just as much as i would be able to do theirs.
I am seriously leaning towards being a trucker

Been in reserves, well national guard for 5 years and some. I only need to come in two more times and I am done. I turned all my stuff in already, such a relieve. If you do end up joining military and you like it, go full time.
About trucking, I've been driving for 1 and some years. I joined so I don't have to talk with people, so I can just do my own thing. I am a weird guy, and in some ways anti social even with my own family. Rude I know. Tell you the truth, I love what I do. I have gaming pc setup, so waiting on loads really not a big deal to me. My best friend lives in Tampa and I live in Wiscinsin still wit my folks haha. So, I go there and here for my home time. Make pretty good money too.Lucidd Thanks this. -

Why not enlist as 88m under a National Guard active 1st program? Sign a 6 year enlistment, go get your cdl for free during AIT, go active for a year or two, then fall back into reserve status? You'll still get your GI doing that if you decide to go to college, or if you reenlist after 6 years you can let your future wifey use it for free college. Your military time will count as experience, you will have an active cdl for your state, and you'll experience a type of camaraderie that you'll never find again.

And don't waste your GI bill on a company... My college was free and I received an additional 1200$/month living expense stipend under chapter33. If you stay in long enough you can even slide your benefits to one of your kids.

Basic and AIT don't pay much, as you will be stuck at E1 unless you have amazing PT scores. NG in Texas lets you train for a few months before basic to let you ride to e2/e3. The money sucks, but every dime is yours aside from uniforms. All your meals and housing is provided, and despite what people say the chow is pretty decent on base. You'll learn to love/hate MRE's, chili Mac was the only one I liked. Worst was the "breakfast omelet"-essentially a squishy egg based sulphur poptart....
