Just join UPS and be a loader for 5 years. Then become a driver. 100k+ income.

Yeah i was actually set on working at UPS at some point but then i heard that they'll be getting new contracts and the pay will be different or something? Like the old driers (before the new contract) will be on a higher pay grade than the new drivers (after the new contract has been applied) apparently the old drivers would be getting paid around $40 an hour and the new drivers would be stuck at what the old drivers used to make aka $30 an hour. Apparently the new drivers would NEVER be able to up their pay grade and eventually get paid $40 an hour.

But anyway's... this is just what someone told me on a UPS forum. Although another user said they do not know what the new contract would contain for sure so it is not 100% factual.

Lucid, I'd think more about the automation happening in trucking right now, in five years or less this industry will be entirely different. If anyone doubts this, think about how much the taxi industry has changed in just a few years due to Uber. When automation hits the trucking industry changes will be unimaginable.

On the other hand, if I was your age I wouldn't have a clue what to do or train for a job in the future, so do what you want as long as you're happy and productive, paying your bills and keeping it real, just let the rest be what it will.

This is a point. Some drivers say no way, some say for sure. I am in the latter camp. I think automation will destroy our industry. Even if drivers have to stay in the truck they won't pay us anything to do it.

That's good but there isn't the money in it as there is with something that is needed in the world. We have enough air conditioner repair people, enough auto mechanics and a lot of machinists running around looking for work. I just speak up because I hate to see people fail. Medical stuff is huge, lots of places you can get through a two year degree and have a marketable skill, I've been in and out and may be back in the medical world soon, what I do isn't for everyone nor schools teach it. You can just pick up an instructors cert and teach on the side - making good money in some cases.

Criminal Justice is from what my daughter told me (her school dweeb consoler told her to look into it) will be saturated like engineering was back in the 80's.

But like I said, I just don't like to see people fail.

I'll agree with this. I'm in school now and Criminal Justice is by far the most popular program.
