when i first started.. yeah i got the pits..crappy truck,( needing maint all the time) crappy runs. (short miles) but the thing is, i started out with a company that treated their drivers like gold. and still do from what ive heard. if the truck needs fixin. done. if ya need a hotel, while truck is gettin fixed. no prob. heres the cash.. they didnt pay top-dollar but it was good enough to make a living. i stayed with them for 4 years. it got better as i went along. better truck.. better miles.. (bit better pay..lol) but they still looked after us (drivers) if i did have an issue.. say broken truck..illegal to move. and dispatch wanted to be to keep goin, i would call safety dept. I only ever had a real prob with them once. had a high value load.. and had an air leak on the truck.. not a mechanic....but i was drivin down the road, heard a pop- then the parkin brakes came on.. something to do with the chamber(s) got road side.. but anyways. they wanted me to cage the brakes. and keep goin.(see why..but no) this is what i said. ( im not messing with anything like that. if u want me to do that. ill unhook the trl. right here. and now. disconnect the sat. and move the truck with park brakes on and move it in a ditch where u dont know where it is, and ill bus it home) road side came in 1 hour. 7 years of truckin and i dont play games. companies like to treat drivers like slaves. they treat me like crap. ill screw them over some way some how.. untill they fire me... doesnt look good on a resume. but when im in the hiring line.. and they ask me why i got fired. i tell them that the last company treated me like crap.. so i ripped them off in spite. now im here. dont treat me like crap. and i wont rip yas off. (works for me.. used to be a salesman, i know how to talk to people... and read their lies..) but yea. ya get shafted when ya first start out
I am seriously thinking of removing cdl-a thanks drivers mgmt llc aka werner ent

I would like to thank you for directing attention to my other post because from the beginning, my sole purpose in posting in this fine forum is to expose Weener Enterprises for the wretched and shameless scam that they perpetrate on new drivers. They will stop at nothing in order to trick drivers in to their abyss of doom. The details are now abundant to anyone with access to a search engine and reside in great part on this forum.
It is to that end that I will make an occasional post.
The gentleman that started this thread was unilaterally worked over by the ungodly Venus Flytrap that Weener Enterprises passes off as employment and I was attempting to offer him consolation in the true fact that one can climb out of a well engineered man trap and successfully prosper with his CDL.
Tony Robbins I am not. In many ways I am a world class looser. I have openly admitted this before. However I have succeeded in obtaining a decent job in trucking with only months of experience with an employer that simply doesn't hire inexperienced drivers. When I applied for the job, my application was placed on a pile that was at least 6" high.
Against all odds, I got the job. If it might help someone else, I'll explain how I did it.
1. Know your employer.
I researched the employer and goggled the company and owners name. This yielded enough personal information to build a profile on their likes and dislikes. (Political affiliations, donations, religion etc.)
2. Adapt, Improvise, Overcome.
I became the archetype of their published beliefs in dress and speech. I obtained several clues by observing the existing drivers and adapted several traits into my own persona. In other words, I formed a profile of their ideal employee in my mind based on the personal information that I gleaned from the interned and by observing the established norm and tried to fit that profile.
3. Persistence
I found out what time the truck boss arrived for work. (4:45a every day, making it a point to be the first to arrive) I showed up a half hour before him every day. The security guard logs all activity so I knew that the owner would soon inquire as to who was beating his truck boss to work every day. I would show up ready for work and with a lunch as if I expected to work. Soon I made friends with the other drivers as they asked who I was. It wasn't long before they were campaigning for me by asking the truck boss and owner questions like "Why do we even have "Jack Tardy" around? He can't even drag his sorry butt to work on time and this guy who don't even work here arrives at 4:15 every morning." On Friday I would show up to "check in" with the boss on his way out of the gate. I did this for a reason. I was the first thing he saw on Monday and the last thing he saw on Friday. I imagined that the whole weekend he would visualize me waiting at the gate with my lunch when he got to work.
I don't think he liked it very much. In fact, he began to turn quite red in the face when he saw me, especially on Mondays. Anyway, he finally broke down and gave me a shot. Probably just to get rid of me because he still doesn't act like he particularly cares for me!
4. Make plan "B" as good as plan "A"
In a nutshell, if your Secondary and Tertiary plans are as good as your Primary then you will never loose! You stack the deck in your favor.
My plan "A" was with a driving a gas tanker for 100K/yr. They were located out of town so I was not able to wage a credible war of persistence and didn't get the job. I don't make 100k/yr now but I had to try! Never hurts to aim high.
So there it is. I don't know how many applications are in a pile 6" high but I beat them all with no experience. If a Weener reject can pull it off then someone else can too.
Your mileage may vary.
P.S.
Please forgive me for not engaging in a "tit for tat" war of quotes and counter volleys but my only interest is in informing new drivers about Werner Enterprises, (Google "Werner Sucks" and "Werner Screws" for additional information and see aforementioned post in this forum.) and perhaps to help a brother driver.
Have a nice day and God Bless!

Jarhed1964, BJnobear, Rogerthat and 2 others Thank this. -
There isn't too much you read about Werner that isn't true. It may not be everyones experience but Werner is so large and disconnected that each employee is nothing more than a number. Werners management is untrained and unable to lead.
I agree that you can make a go of it in this industry without much experience. Werner and I didn't work out. Short on experience I gave up on trucking, came home and tried again to find a job in my primary field. No joy.
After getting an offer in a trucking position, I purchased my own truck and will begin as an owner operator tomorrow. Now I can complain about certain groups that cut rates. They are much more of a threat to the typical trucker than any boil on your butt like Werner. -
That driver didnt bring NOTHING on to hisself.. 1. Werner will NOT approve nothing inless its CHEAP if the trucks arent under warranty they will just let the driver sit there intil they get a cheap price.

Long ago post, but trucking is about waiting. Drive time to a company means nothing, this "coastie" broke your post down, he/she is an #######. Not every company will #### bag you like you have been. Well the big ones will, they have brokers who do not work for them and most of the loads come that way, they pay the brokers a % and the truck-driver gets nothing to do all the work. Thats the way it is, get your own truck, find a good broker, or yourself and make some $$
