i am so disappointed with myself

I'm shocked you failed just from hitting a curb. Was that the only thing, or was it just enough to push you over the edge of the point threshold? Also, a whole month to wait? Is it a state thing?

Here in Michigan you only have to wait 24 hours, and our instructors say to do your best to miss all curbs, but it's not a failing issue.

 

No; during a test that is a no no. Could have been someone standing there.

 

they told us unless you ran ALL THE WAY up on and over the curb they wouldn't fail you.

 

Well, to be accurate, I was told it wouldn't fail you if it's an empty corner. If there's a person nearby, it's a huge no no. All I can do is try my best on the test, huh?

 

In Indiana, It's considered "Collision with Immobile Object: Immediate failure" which, a Classmate unfortunately verified, includes the barrells that mark the entrance to the skill-testing yard.

 

When a student driver fails the first test, does s/he continue with training until it is time for the second test? Is there still the opportunity to practice more?

 

dude biggest thing is, you have to forget it and just go back and it like you know you can. i can't count the amount of curbs i have hit in my 14 yrs but i don't worry about it. it happens to the best of us. good luck and look forward to seeing you out there but you better hurry. i'm done driving in 3 yrs................

 

Don't worry about Roehl. I trained with them and they are a fair company. I know of guys that had to come back just to retest and they passed the second time around. Hitting curbs is important because there have been occurances in the past where someone standing on a corner have been struck and killed. Like everyone said watch your mirrors. Go a little wider in the turn to be on the safe side.
A fellow student (with a trainer in the truck) hit and took down a light post. He was still hired after successfully passing the rest of the course. I think the trainer got in more trouble. Watch your mirrors and make sure you keep turning that head looking at intersections, etc... they really watch for that.
