Unless you’re driving a day cab if you’re off duty or sleeper berth for at least 2 hours it will pause the 14.

There may be a Split Break or Will Pair SB or some other related button/box you need to check to turn split breaking on, Omnitracs as an example turns it off by default.

The way I see things is that the guys who complain the most about ELDs are probably the reason we have them.

I don’t understand also why people don’t just PC and you don’t have to 5MPH ELD roll. Why not make driving life more easy.

PC is a very slippery slope. I worked for a small tanker outfit that had a very generous PC policy and before I knew it they were expecting drivers to use PC to run 20 to 22 hours a day.

I wouldn’t exactly say so. Most of the fellows I know that hate the very idea have never had an accident in their life. I only used Elogs for about 3 months, I detested them. Certain aspects are convenient, but overall, not a good fit for everyone. If someone wants to run them, fine, I don’t mind, but not all men are the same. Don’t mandate them for everyone

PC is not legal at a shipper or receiver. unless u are leaving to go get food or something... for example you get loaded in one spot and creep around the shipper property to scale out.. Using PC in this instance is going to draw attention and possibly earn you a violation. Instead you can creep at 4mph and stay in sleeper berth. throw straps and tarps whatever, all in sleeper. Which is not legal either but, they will never know. Get done, go on duty for 15 20 30 mins while cleaning up, making lunch... ur 14 hour clock is stopped and satisfied enough on duty time to make it look good... never caught a violation this way

Not every company allows PC the option won't even be on the tablet.

That is usually a sure fire way to get fired.

We had a driver over the spring think if you turned off the ELD it didn't record data, see the truck moving or anything else. Drove from Benton, AR to Sulphur Springs, TX. He rejected the unassigned drive time it recorded with the remark of Not Me Driving so it wouldn't interrupt his break. Did the same thing leaving Irving TX. Promptly fired when he got back from TX.
