And wonder how much does taking breaks , not being in a maniac mode effects home time and money ? I like to relax a bit take a nap stop a few times a day ...

I am confused, what exactly is your question? You are looking for a company that allows you to take it easy and be home every weekend?

The amount of screw-around time on each load depends on so many factors, there is no job that I know of where you can count on taking it easy on every load,

You will likely always try to get to appointment before your appointment time so you can get unloaded and go get next load so you can get your miles and get home. Some areas don't have a lot of freight so the first driver at Company A that gets empty in the city gets the one load they have available. The next drivers wait until they get another load. The trouble is there is plenty of downtime when you can relax, you just aren't told "now is time to relax". You are usually told "we'll have a load for you in an hour", hour after hour until a load shows up on Qualcomm. So when you aren't driving and know your appointment time you don't know should you be trying to fill-up an hour or 12 hours of time? Sleep or do laundry. Go to a movie & eat dinner or do that and sleep and do laundry and count the rivets on the trailer.

If paid by the mile, then you will start losing out on money, because you are wasting your hours taking breaks and such. If you take that extra hour to get to your delivery, then that is an hour that you will lose out on for your next load. That will start to add up to a lot of lost dollars over time. Not that I don't encourage taking it easy once in a while... but there will be times when you have to take it easy and times when you have to run hard. It usually balances out.

Of course if you are paid by the hour, like me, then it's another story. I can stop and take breaks all day and get paid the same, as long as the job gets done they don't care. But if you do too much lollygagging then the dispatchers/planners will soon catch on and put a stop to it. You want to earn a reputation as a reliable driver who gets things done, not a slowpoke who likes to sit idle all day. You just need to figure out where to draw the line.

2 of us are on same run. I spend 9 hours doing my run. Mr. Dilly Dally spends 12 hours. His time,, I don't get it but none of my business. I'm express freight, he's not but we both run on schedule which is critical.

Filling in on Walmart dedicated the last couple of days. Made about 1100 dollars after expenses, with the stop pay. The most difficult thing I did was peel stickers off of pallets and place them on a sheet of paper. Got driver assist pay for that too, which I haven't looked to even see what that was.

That company was Swift. And I'm parked in the same exact spot at the same truck stop for 3 days now.
