And let's say u have to be there 1pm and you are there at noon or 1230 if they unload u early and u took the 30 mins nap getting there at 1230 this may cost u , does it get u home 30 mins later did u make half hour more pay ? Especially when the next appointment might deliver next morning seems it's just hard to tell .. but thanks for all efforts will re read all posts again

I get paid $.50/mile running and $16.00/hr stopped. Average 60 miles per hour × .50 cents... Much rather be running.

tuff topic but lots drivers run face off everyday ,and are miserable and was just wondering how it worked out in end .,, most guys who are like this , are so set in ways will never change ,and have never did much studying how it affect overall pay, hometime ..if it's a few dollars, and a few mins hometime ,or none at all a break can be nice .. hope to get some input

Once you start your clock, time is money.
Your available hours to drive and make money is depleting.
Waste hours at the shipper reduces your earning power.

I know that but if your next stop ends day, and you can't run clock out , can't earn more even if u have time..

That's something you need to discuss with dispatch. Many drivers sit and sit once they get unloaded waiting for there next load.

I guarantee you the guy who runs harder will make more money over the long term if they also run smart and are reliable.

You have two loads to move and two drivers available. One driver likes to run hard and one likes to take naps. Both loads need to deliver at the same time but one is 200 miles further. The choice is obvious on which load gets assigned to which driver.

How that affects home time is a different matter. Depends a lot on the company.

As for which way to run that's up to you. I disagree with your assumptions that someone who doesn't need naps during the day is miserable, not sure how you come up with that idea. :)

I know some people who run a dedicated in Texas, intrastate, and they have a 15 hour duty clock with 12 hours drive time. The 15 stops when they go off duty for any reason. Naps, breaks etc... maybe this guy should move to TX lol
