They've had updated maps since at least February. It is now mid-November & they still have not released them for the 720/520 & older.
It is safe to say they are not currently supporting the 1+ year old units. They may or may not reestablish support in the future, but for now, RM is not releasing map updates for anything but the 730/530.
"Lifetime" to Rand McNally means however long RM feels like their product should last. Buyer beware...
I bought a used Rand Mcnally IntelliRoute TND 500 Truck GPS from ebay...

What's the big deal about map updates, anyway? I-95 still goes north and south, right?
Took a comparison look between the 2012 and the 2014 RMMCA, didn't look different to me.
Got a RM 520, wasn't even aware i was expected to "update" it. Update for what? Streets, roads, and highways take months if not years to come into existence. I'm quite sure I'll figure them out if and when i encounter them. There are usually signs of some nature to let me know they are there and if I can use them.mattbnr Thanks this. -

My 710 came with a year of updates. My 720 included lifetime maps (IIRC). I just updated it a few nights ago and the download took about 9 seconds. I don't think I got much with that, and I did not read the notes as to what was included.

The new maps haven't been released for the x20 series yet

Route your TND from Indianapolis to Detroit. It probably doesn't use US 24 because it still doesn't know that that is a divided freeway
