My first job pay was about 50 cpm split team as for QuickX , 20 years ago , first solo i got 35 cpm. Most of my buddies here in ON don't get much over 55 cpm, for solo, some pay 60 included safety bonus paid quarterly; some friends, husband wife team getting 70cpm running reefer to CA without taxes. It's better paid job than than 20 years ago, but back then a litre of gas was 50 cents , i used to pay 600$ monthly rent for two bedrooms apartment in Toronto and a house was 3-4 times cheaper; would take 4 truckers annual income combined income to qualify for average house price mortgage.

How about some of the Manitoba reefer outfits. Not the big boys but with 10 to 30 trucks. They expect the drivers to be out for 2 weeks. No resets
Drive 11 every day, come home and be back on the road after 48 hours. Most of the drivers are young East Indians. I can smell another Humboldt type accident
I will say that most have newer equipment
    The pay is ok

My older brother just went back into building houses again. My dad was a developer so a long history of the housing market.

Nice houses , custom floor plans $650 thousand and up.

Problem was trying to find vacant land to build on. Now it’s insane supply prices.

It’s going to price the houses out of the market.

So I suggested we buy older houses and remodel. Older lower price used houses are some of the most overvalued properties out there.

Inflation in housing is out of control here.

Say what you like about older homes being overpriced, the 650k mcmansions that have been built since the 80s arent worth the materials in them in my opinion.

(Youre not wrong about housing being overpriced, ive been looking at market prices for my crappy 60k house bought in 2011, its doubled in asking rate since then. Its not worth a dime over 75k even with the things ive done to it, but if i were selling id be happy to take a sucker's 120k for it
