I'm looking to start CDL school in about 1 week to one month. I'm looking to only work local or as a part-time over-the-road driver. What do you think I should do in this situation? Are there really jobs available for people looking for local jobs like myself? I have a best friend who's a truck driver who thinks there are opportunities for brand new CDL holders... Before I start school, I want to make sure that there will be opportunities for me at Pepsi Budweiser or one of the Frito-Lay companies.. Can any of you give me some advice or some definite answers

    The_vett and austinmike Thank this.

That's a good location for local work in beverage, food service, Frito-Lay type jobs. Those companies hire new cdl school grads. The money is great and can be home daily.

Also, some household goods movers have those type jobs; home daily.

Get all the endorsements also because some tanker companies will hire you for fuel and oil trucks; home daily.

Eagle advertises $70G - $85G per year. Some drivers are making over $100G but that's not on the website.

Good luck finding part time OTR right now. Companies like Roehl and Schneider used to have those options but they have scaled those way back with this current trucking market. Its hard to find flex fleets today...I've looked to no avail.
