put money into a online trading account and use the 5 step trend trading for dummies. always use a 2% stop loss. i herd an owner operator say thats how he pays his truck payment of $700 dollars a month on a used fleet truck

I'm not sure what your experience is but have you ever considered learning how to haul cars? Like everything else it don't pay what it used to but it pays a hell of a lot better than what you're making now for a lot less hours. Like the one driver said, buying a truck right now is not a good deal. Talk to as many O/O drivers as you can before making that decision; Especially O/O that have been out here for many years. I've seen a few guys make it but many fail for a number of reasons. Mostly because they were uninformed. If you must buy a truck, try and find a successful mentor who has been out here all his life as an O/O that you can trust.

Yep, those are the neighborhoods where the appliances are on the back porches to keep up the property values.

@TampaTony, I have no idea about your household expenses but it is not much different from Montana so I would look at your spending. To save up the maximum you need to cut the spending. Don't follow the government example. I make it a point to live on about $400 a week. If you can do that you can save up a lot of money in a short amount of time. I personally drive a 1987 Toyota 4 Runner and have yet to own a vehicle made in this decade. Buy it cheap and run the crap out of it. It is ugly as sin but I can leave it unlocked anywhere and I am not in this to impress someone at a stop light that I will never meet.

It's not that ramen is healthy but you can live on it for a short period of time. Try starting by cutting your spending by 25% and then work from there. Use cash instead of credit cards. When you go to buy something stop and think, do I need this or do I want this? Short term sacrifice for long term goals always tastes better when you have more comfort in your life. i.e. not worried about money.

Personally, I would wait a little longer until you have more cash. Now I say this as a divorced man with no one at home to worry about. Even with that, you can still do this with a little patience.

Depending on one's expenses 800 net is not bad. I net about 650 to 700 a week in Chicago. My wife brings home about 250 a week working part time. So combined 900 to 950 a week and we have 2 kids. We are doing fine.
But the op has to work too hard for that money. I drive a straight truck about 45 hours a week.

If $800 isn't enough time to go back to school get a student loan get a real 60,000 a year job engineering or something but you still gonna owe for the student loan..There are no short cuts in America anymore none that don't land you in jail.
