you're only in the "system" if you have major screw-ups. Spitting in an alley and jaywalking at 3 am aren't serious enough to warrant taking up computer space.
SavageSam Thanks this. -
Ok, so when they asked have you "EVER" been convicted or plead guilty to any misdemeanor. Do you think I should say yes or no?
-
Put it this way. You're betting your whole career on what your friend found or did not find. If you lie on a employment application and get caught you might as well light up an ole fat joint and smoke it with the boss. That's a joke because I never recommend drug useage. If they catch you and put it on a report ,no company will touch you.
Never try to lie or hide anything on the app. But read the questions very carefully. If they ask have you ever been convicted and you were found not guilty then the answer is no. But if the ask have you ever been arrested then it doesn't matter if you're convicted or not. They should always give you space or time to explain yourself. -
Maybe, if you have the time, you can cut to the chase yourself: http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cjisd/fprequest.htm
I'm not speaking from personal experience, of course. I just have some friends of mine, ya know..... -
I know that years ago many things, especially minor misdemeanors went unreported to the NCIC, (National Crime Information Center). So if you ran a criminal history through NCIC only the arrests or convictions that were reported would appear. However, if someone took the time to trot down to the court house they could find any and all charges. Like GasHauler said If it was a little thing, especially long long ago, your potential employer probably will not care any more than you do. In reality they may even be impressed by the fact that you are honest about something that they can't find.
This is one situation where I would always tell the truth.SavageSam Thanks this. -
They only ask for felonies

Well so far I'm ok. I've told the truth on all of them. On some they ask have you "EVER" been arrested. On others they want to know about misdemeanors if you plead guilty or no contest. I have two incidents. Both very minor and very long ago. Gashauler do you know anything about these TWIC cards? I did the background check for my HazMats, do I need a TWIC card in addition to the TSA check? Also, my license expires in Nov., if I get a TWIC card now will it be good for five years from date of issue or does it expire when my license does? The way it reads, if I get one now, I'll have to get another one in Nov.

Savage...
TWIC is good for five years if you pay for another TSA background check. Also, they will discount the card and use the background check from your hazmat but the card will expire when your hazmat expires (5 years from fingerprinting/approval)
