last summer i had just enough room to tie down my moped to the catwalk with the 5th wheel slid back. it was a tight squeeze with the air lines but it fit. (freight was really slow and i got sick of getting stuck for the weekends without being able to sight see.)

haha. We aren't supposed to put anything back there at werner at all, i see stuff on the back of werner tractors all the time, but the policy specifically mentions bicycles so...i probably oughtnt put a bicycle back there like i wanted to.....

Im thinking about keeping a bike in my sleeper though. Since im a solo driver, ive never used the top bunk and im thinking about strapping it onto the top bunk with some ratchet straps (with top bunk folded up). Problem is i dont know if a bike will fit through the emergency exit door on the sleeper.

Depends on the bike. I saw one guy riding a unicycle around the truck stop last summer. He was pretty good at it.

i highly doubt it will fit thru the sleeper door. however there are a couple bikes out there that fold in half where the seat post is or somewhere around there. but even just popping the front wheel off you should get it to fit thru the pass door.

Those folding bikes have small wheels and are ugly. What i was thinking about was getting one that has a quick release on the front wheel and a quick release on the seat and i bet ican get it through the sleeper door that way...

As soon as i pull into a terminal they'll say something.

at the pumpkin patch unless you are flat out breaking a big rule like pets or something that is truly a safety issue they will leave you alone. something like a bike or a milk crate with oil and coolant i cant see how theyd get a bug up there but about it.

I would ask your driver manager directly if they would have an issue with a bike if you state your case. cause there the ones that are going to either bend or enforce the rules

Don't use rubber bungies to strap that stuff down with - DOT can hit you with a securement ticket. Get some of those cheap (really cheap) adjustable, nylon straps from WallyWorld.

    So many ways to go...
A portable generator will get stolen, need gas, need gas storage, cause a fire, and otherwise be a pain.
A permanently mounted separate cabin battery with an A/B switch is safe, secure, trustworthy, and in this case not acceptable. I have mounted so many of these setups in boats, with never a problem.
I would purchase an OPTIMA acid free deep cycle battery and a 1500 watt inverter. Secure it in the tool box, and run clip on cables to the main batteries. hook up the cables when you are leaving to charge the battery, and if you un-hook it when you stop, you can party all night, without running down the starting batteries.
More than adequate electrical storage for operating most anything, other than an air conditioner. (Even that can be done, but it's harder to hide!)
