How many miles do you average a week?
Thats pretty good average of $ pm. I always wonder how the guys leased to companies that pay eighty something cents per mile make it.

Only the math challenged driver would think by pulling $1.50 per "dispatched" mile will get you anywhere near $2.50 per odometer mile. Never mind, you said lease purchase.

Some really good OD loads involving NYC and the Northeast. I did less FL intrastate than in the previous years. My FL intrastate is one way, then deadhead back. $4 p/m turns into $2 p/m easily. I only worked 6 months or less total, I haven't added up my logs yet. 2012 I only had around 100 nights in the truck. 59,844 on the miles.

Keep in mind, I'm leased to Landstar. They live in the truck, that's how.

Wow, I guess I am way behind the curve :(.

Grossed $205k on 130k miles. BUT fuel was only $70K...yes we get almost 7mpg. DID NOT Tarp one load. so Im sure Ill get flamed for the low number but we have at least 25% DH. so we make 1.57 a mile driving 32k miles empty. so despite the low number, this year proved the most the profitable for us. heck we are paying Taxes on real profit.

but we did spec a 75mph truck. 3.42 and tall rubber.

Congrats 40calglock. Wish we all had that kind of profit margin.

Kevin Rutherford had an example of a driver who sent in his paperwork for a show at the end of the year 2012, where he averaged 2.87 CPM. He was in his mid twenties, is a car hauler and runs one route-New vehicles from NY to FL and back hauls used vehicles out of FL back to NY.

His reasoning he said that helps him is "A lot of the ole timers don't want to hear anything about the NE or NY, let alone drive there, so I do it."

ETA: BTW, this was his net after expenses.

Can I ask a few questions ?? I am thinking of buying a trailer as we are power only right now and receive $1.50 (includes FSC) all miles. Empty coming back 70% of the time. Trailers are all preloaded so just wait at the unload. What is the license and insurance on a trailer. Can find a nice trailer for $14 - 15,000. I see most loads around here are $2 - 2.25 that they would average. Seems like the trailer would pay back fast but again I'm wondering what the upkeep on a trailer is and the license and insurance.
