    I've never (at least knowingly) seen that before, either....I'll have to take a closer look at things and see if it's even a possibility on my unit.

    Maybe some of the more veteran drivers have seen this.

    BTW...what model of truck is featured here?

    Why do you have a mud flap in FRONT of your drives? my mud flaps are not even close to my fuel tanks..

    Same exact thing happened to me, mudflap wore hole in tank...I had to take a screw thru a piece of rubber to seal hole until I could get it repaired...

    I assume it is a mudflap behind a steer axel tire for it to rub a tank. You would think you would see the wear before it wore a hole in the tank. Anything on a truck that rubs will wear something out.

    My thought as well...sounds like a design flaw, as that really shouldn't happen.

    Sorry...I only speak Freightliner, which I believe is a Norwegian word for "untraceable squeaks and rattles".

    "I" don't have it there. The company has it there, and I'm not allowed to "modify" their equipment even if I had thought of removing it.

    Yes it is a small flap behind the steer tire. I would have seen it if I had ever conceived this possibility. I had no idea that was something to look out for. The mud flaps are "properly mounted and not damaged", and the fuel tank is "properly mounted and (was) not leaking". lol

    Live and learn right? Got a new part of my pre-trip. Oh, by the way, I did not see any puddle or indication of a leak this morning on my pre-trip.
