Intermodal might be an answer. Depending on how close to a port, or rail head you are. You might have dodged a bullet not getting on with a foodservice company making deliveries. Long days, lot's of stops, up and down a ramp constantly with heavy boxes on a 2 wheeler, rotating the stock in the coolers, etc. Been there, done that.
Either way, lots of advice here, good luck with your search.
I don’t think I can do this anymore.

Are you interested in hauling fuel? There is Florida Rock and Tank. A friend of mine started with them then moved on to Superior. There is always Waste Mangement, those guys pay good from what I hear. Whatever you do dont give up yet. You came into trucking at the worst time in years. I think its already bottomed out and we are slowly headed back up. You definitely sound like your heart is in the right place and you got shafted by otr. Swift seems hit and miss depending on your area. . I've talked to Swift drivers who have done very well, others the complete opposite. Too bad you didn't get on with a better outfit to start. I live near a wal mart DC where Swift has the account and they have weekly and daily stuff., although massive turnover. Like others said above maybe you can find a weekly job to start then move on to daily when things improve. How about an ltl like Old Dominion, Estes, or Saia. Hang in there..

You might wanna rethink that....

If you dismiss all jobs that pay drivers by cpm (in part, at least) -- then you have thus closed the door on ALL of the "holy grail" best-paying gigs in the industry -- which include....but are not limited to (most are home daily, as well):
- UPS
- ABF Freight
- R & L Carriers
- SAIA
- Estes
- Walmart Transportation
- & others
- detention pay
- live load/unload pay
- breakdown pay
- drop-n-hook pay
- training/meetings pay
- & virtually everything else you do (again -- while on duty)
)...and food service gigs.
Is that really what you want?

Yet you bailed from Sygma. Sygma has several openings in Central Fl. You know what questions to ask from your prior experience. You could try to go back there as they are part of Sysco. It is far easier to move within a company than to enter from the outside. Stick it out for 6 months to a year and then look to move internally or over to a Sysco position.

NEWS FLASH: In case you haven't already noticed -- it's NOOOOTTT a "driver's job market" out there, right now -- & especially in central & south FL.
Local, home daily, great-paying CDL jobs (with good benefits) are EXTREMELY COMPETITIVE right now....& for the foreseeable future.
Witness how you earlier got a food service job offer...& then (essentially) got "suckered".
Did you then feel a bit like Charlie Brown...with Lucy & the football?
Do keep us posted, later on.... with how that works out for you.
