When you have a 0600 appt, you don't leave at 0430, even though it's 70 miles away - if you leave at 0430, you arrive at 0900, people get mad, and you go on stand-by, and you get home at 8 at night.

I live in Queens so it's no big deal to me. But I can kind of understand why some drivers don't want to come up here. What I don't get is those same drivers complaining about not making any money. Think about it. What part of the country has the largest concentration of people? If you refuse to run in that part of the country you lose out on making money. It would be nice if every load was easy but that just doesn't always happen.

Right... just like the NYC comments, I've heard TEAMS say "I won't go to LA"... there are 4-5 major freight points in the nation... and they combine ports and population. Deal with it, or go back to fixing copiers or whatever.

A TEAM can drop into LA or NYC in the middle of the night and avoid traffic - are people really just not that smart?

I was scared to death the first time but figured I gotta do it sooner or later so with about 4 wk exp off I went with directions in hand. Had a few problems and but got fixed right up via cb. Big problem happened when I some how ended up in NJ:biggrin_2554: OPP's I know the co. didn't mind paying the extra tolls:yes2557:. After that piece of cake, It got so I liked going it cause I get an extra $100 for "congestion pay" ( did you know if you time it right you can take 3 T-called loads in in a day?)SWEET!

I used to do Manhattan all the time, but now with the CSA 2010 nonsense and points system, I will not go there with my 53 footer until I have a permit or they change the rules, same with D.C. Will it hurt my revenue? Maybe a little, but not as much a risking my driving career.
