Don't expect local NYPD to give you direction!
Half the time they don't even know where they are at.
I don't do New York City!

true story alot of those local police are just stationed on a block, and the traffic cops are even worse. Ambulance drivers would know the city the best, but how would you ever contact them?
I liked NYC because for the most parts its all a grid and you can go around the block to get back on track, try that in pittsburgh, HAH.The Challenger and ronin Thank this. -

As a newbie with Werner I was heading out of Jamaica, New York and came across a bridge hieght of 12' 6". I stopped the truck quick and had my teammate spotting me as I approached. (Hadn't seen any warning signs up to this point so I thought it was strange.) As I'm inching up to the bridge a 13'6" trucker who probably had been though this before blasts under the bridge at 55+mph. My teammate looks at me, and me at him, he jumps back into the truck and we're on our way. Why...why... why? Oh well. We survived and I would do it again. The Challenger and ronin Thank this. -
NYC? No problem, just don't ask me to go to Omaha, NE. All the roads getting in there are so boring, I'll fall asleep and wreck before I make my delivery.
ronin Thanks this. -

This one's for the O/O's and others who know the business part of the trucking business.
One of the No NYC justifications I keep hearing is about extra taxation and paper work for the privilege of going there.
Is there any truth to that? -
The money has to be there. That's for sure!
Tolls are expensive. As for extra paperwork or taxation? I'm not sure about that. NY has their own heavy use tax, but that is state wide. Not just in the city.KO1927 Thanks this.
