ok so i'm not a newb out of Kentucky, i'm on track to head to truckin school, i feel trucking is my future, i love it and its what i want to do. i'm 19 so i know i'd be doing local in-state driving for a few years which is fine, crawl be4 you walk right? so i have many questions i need answers too. i need to get a SPE because of a handicap or disability in my arms, i use my feet for everything and i can't begin to explain how good i am but just trust that i am not disabled like what you might think.
i drive a pick up with no mods at all, i use my left foot for pedals and right to steer, i'm very god at it, i can and would challenge anyone to say they drive better than me, anyways i know that i have a long road ahead of me be4 i even get on the road haha but i read since i'm disabled i need to seek out a SPE? what is that? and how do i get it? i'm worried i'll get some ### hole that says that i can't do it because i don't drive like you all, if its a safety thing i understand but deny it, i can handle the pressure of big rigs, i know the wheel takes several pounds of pressure and my legs are extremely strong being used all my life.
i wanted to own my own business per say, like own my truck and do free lance, i can't do heavy lifting as far as loads go, i can hook up to a trailer but i mean load and un-load them so need to find strictly no-touch freight, i got it planned out, but have a few questions like when i get my cdl i'm gonna do obviously intrastate commerce but should i go ahead and get a truck with a sleeper in prep for when i turn 21 or get a day cab and get a bigger one after i can go out of state? also, i've been looking for a automatic truck, not auto assisted, a clutchless two pedal truck, i don't like volvo, i would like a t-800 or international 9900i or any peterbuilt or kenworth. if you have any questions you think i should ask please reply, thanks so much. shout out to HERMES HEAVY HAUL

391.49 Alternative physical qualification standards for the loss or impairment of limbs.
    (a) A person who is not physically qualified to drive under §391.41(b)(1) or (b)(2) and who is otherwise qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle, may drive a commercial motor vehicle, if the Division Administrator, FMCSA, has granted a Skill Performance Evaluation (SPE) Certificate to that person.

This is where you will find then info you are looking for and how to go about getting it. Normally it is for the lose of a finger, arm, or foot. With both arms un-usable you could be denied. Be ready for that.

theres to many things you need your arms for besides actually steering the truck

how would you crank the landing gear? climb into the cab without holding on? or climbing into the back of the trailer or even closing the doors? load/unload the trailer...hook up air and electrical lines?

release the brakes, turn on the wipers or any of the other controls for that matter?

i dont see how it could be done...i know thats not what you wanted to hear but i think its the truth

the landing gear, u mean that lever you grab and crank? i grab it and i crank with my foot, what are u a monkey? do you have to climb branches to get in? i walk up the side steps. if u read my first post i said i would only do no-touch freight. all the lines i can hook up, i done it be4, i use my feet. release brakes? you mean the knob you pull out? haha that the easiest and so is turn sig. wind. wipers, light, and everything else

Sorry LTB, but Freebird is correct.
There are too many item that must be used on a daily basis that require at least limited use of one or both arms.
While the ability to type and drive a pick up truck with your feet is a novelty, it ain't gonna cut it for big truck truckin'.

Your posts present the right attitude to have, no doubt, however, Yall are going to get denied work.

Even no touch freight has to be secured to move, whether it's load locks in a reefer or dry box.
Flat bed's gotta be strapped or chained and tarped.

How do you fuel up and do paper work after a dump? How do you do you get the hood open for pretrip?

Lastly you'll have trouble lifting the basket at orientation physical.
