Joking aside I wish you luck bud. Get your CDL and keep on looking. Does the government have a department that helps disabled people find jobs?

Boy you picked a job that was hard enough as it is.

LTB, the basket is part of the work well exercise at you potential employers orientation. YOU will have to prove that you can do the job as well as any other candidate.
That means pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing in and out of trailers, checking under them for obstructions and pre-trip inspections.

well as i said i want to have my own trucking name and just do free lance because honestly ur right, i can;t compete for a job at a company even if i can do it, but i refuse to sit and draw dissability, any job market has more perfect looking candidates but i am a good driver, and i love the road, so as long as i can start off with local in state pick up drop off loads i can do it, but no one has answered my questions, read my first post

Never stop chasing your dream, there have been one armed baseball players and people that run marathons with prosthetic legs, so you never know unless you try.
Good luck, I hope you make it.

Kabar answered you SPE question in the very first response to your initial post, which I have quoted for the sake of convenience.

As to your getting a CDL, you have the general qualifications, but may lack the ability to do the job even as an Independent O\O. The Banks are likely going to require some kind of experience level before they extend credit to buy a truck and trailer.

We are not trying to be ###holes. We do not want you to get in over your head and wast money on an education you may not even be able to use.

Like I said previously, you present the right kind of attitude in your posts. I hope that you can keep it as you gain knowledge and experience in life.
I just think that trucking may not be right for you based upon you self description as an impaired teen with very limited use of either or both arms and hands.

id love to see you hook up airlines with your feet

and as for climbing into the cab...yes i can do it with no hands, but you fall out and you will be hurt pretty bad......9 times out of 10 i could climb up with no hands but that 10th time i might sleep backward and bust my head open

Yeah I agree with them, were not trying to bee ##########, my 2 cents would be about the truck and trailer, as misterg stated, where are you going to get financing, or insurance for that matter. I dont mean to sound pessimistic but im gonna be rude and just say it so you know, you probably dont know much about trucking to begin with, what about setting up an authority? getting a motor carriers number and all? What about brokereing? Putting in bids for different loads? And thats just the tip of the iceberg. Im sorry but all disability aside, that doesnt have much to even do with it, im sorry bud your just not ready for it.

Ok I'll take this one. There's 100 drivers out there applying for the same job. Some have records and some have other problems but your defeat comes with the driver that is clean and the company will take them every time. The best move for you is to buy your own truck if you can. Show everyone you can do it but forget the company job. You fall in with the old timers here that made alot of money driving, they're umemployable now.

now my young friend you have taken a challenge that few would try and i commend you for it. you can overcome all the obstacels ahead of you with a lot of determnation but in
all nonest it will be tough.

as far as working for a company i doubt any company would even give you a chance part becuse they are company and part because of insurance if your going to succeed your going to have to have your own truck then you are the company.

but even then you have a chalenge ahead of you. DOT REGS you would have to be tested with specil testing and then get a waver so you can legaly drive a cmv not impossibel it can be done but it will be a challenge.

you will probably have to have the controls in the truck you choose modified to suit your needs not a problem either just takes a little money thats all. another thing is the trailer it will also have to be modified to suite your needs but again it can be done just takes a little time and money and it will have to be your trailer so you wont have to worry about hooking up all the time.

it can be done my young friend IF you have the determination and the will to do it . i dont much believe in the word cant it is usally asoicated with the word lazy if you want it bad enough you can do most anything but if you proceed it will be rough to get it done.

if i can be of help to you in anyway please don't hesitate it's part of my job. good luck to you my young friend. southernpride :biggrin_25514:
