I dont know what to do

Well, that's unsettling. Not when I started. Just seemed like responsible people drove a truck. They may have had drug or alcohol problems, but were what we called, "working alcoholics or drug addicts". May have had a problem, but we never knew it. They hid it well. Many jobs were found in a bar. They never ran their trucks into stopped traffic or down RR tracks. Fact is, I'd wager a bet, in the 70's and '80's, most produce coming out of California was hauled by drug addicts. Not that I condone those shenanigans, it's just I don't remember any shortages or pileups.
I know Goodwill does a lot, it's just, as an owner looking for a driver, I just don't think Goodwill is the best place to look. Like I say, if it truly has gotten to that, we're in more trouble than I thought. I'm sorry, history has shown, ex-druggies go back to drugs, ex-sauceheads go back to booze, and ex-cons generally con again.

 

Companies don't hire drivers from Goodwill. Goodwill pays for cdl school.

I’ve been clean and sober for 34 yrs. There’s a lot of Drivers, if you talk to them, who don’t drink at all. For obvious reasons. Truckers got the stereotype years ago, for a reason. But today, I’d say they’re about the cleanest bunch, of any occupation, because of random testing.The Driver I met 30+ yrs ago, at Goodwill, was a disturbing thing. The disturbing part, was that he was perfectly happy with his life. Lots of former Users out there. They’re just not advertising it. For good reasons, too.

 

North Carolina has several community colleges with inexpensive CDL programs.
