i have a friend (Mike) in bakersfield that has broken down. He is a certified Diesel Mechanic that used to own a diesel repair shop in Seligman, AZ. he was on his way back up to sacramento where he recently went through a VA rehab program and is trying to put his life back on track. He is driving a red Dodge Diesel Truck and pulling a white trailer. the truck has had something break in the transmission and he can only drive at very slow speeds in the lowest gear.
Starting at 2am this morning and at this moment he is being threatened by local gang members at the Flying J truck stop in bakersfield ca. on the merced ave. exit. His brother has rented a pickup and has just left from sacramento to go and get Mike and the trailer.
The sheriff dept. will not do anything for Mike until the gang members actually do something to him. we fear for his safety and i fear for his brothers safety when he arrives to pick up mike.
i am begging you guys in what i understand is a brotherhood to put out the word for mike who has repaired many diesels engines in his years as a mechanic. If one of you could just give him words of encouragement if you happen to be at the truck stop, i would be so appreciative...
and if you have ANY ideas of anything else we can do to help him, please, please reply.
your prayers would also be much appreciated.
i don't know where to turn

I would guess that Flying J has security and it is private property. Contact the manager of the truck stop.

Sounds like his truck will move. Park it in the J's parking lot, as close to the front as possible. In the 4 wheeler's section would be best. Lock all you can , go sit in the J's restaurant, tell the manager and any security you see. Stay in the main part, do not venture out. Equipment can be replaced, lives cannot. When the truth comes out, there will be more to this story, but he will be OK if he stays inside, and around other people.
Giggles the Original Thanks this. -
He did and the manager asked Mike to "Prove" it. Hard to do when they disappear any time the law comes around.
He was chased out of a smaller truck stop down the road (we had him towed to the flying J at around 4 this morning) At that truck stop They circled his truck, urinated on it and one of them pulled a gun. When we called the sheriff, he arrived ad they laid low and again mike was told that they couldn't do anything until there had been actual damage or violence... they followed him to the flying J and we can only assume they are just waiting for an opportunity to do what to him only God knows. in my frustration at the lack or any response from management or the sheriffs office i turned to you guys for ....i don't know....help...Mike is very scruffy looking, no teeth and i suspect that is why noone it taking him seriously... -
Threats are against the law. He needs to tell the sheriff's department he wants to press charges against the individuals for making terroristic threats (a threat to commit violence). If the sheriff's department doesn't respond, then tell them you're calling the state police and not only are you filing charges with the state police against the gang members for the crime(s) committed but reporting the sheriff's department for refusing to render aid to a victim of a crime.lilrich and Ghost Ryder Thank this.

"They circled his truck, urinated on it and one of them pulled a gun."
That alone is ample evidence (urine marks), along with him visually witnessing a gun pulled, to warrant definite law enforcement involvement. Something here seems very fishy and not sure we're getting the full or truthful story from you. -
Ty jbatmick, he is as close to the buliding as he could get i believe...the gang members followed him inside so not sure that will work and he i stubborn and doesn't want to lose his trailer.....

Something weird is going on here. Very little of this story is making sense. Why would they follow him? There has to be a reason. They could pick on lots of people but they are going to bide their time until he leaves??? What makes "Mike" so special that they will dedicate their lives to screwing with him.

Folks here on this forum try their best to be as nice as possible in giving advice. But your story sounds a little off. It is entirely possible that there is some type of situation. You, the OP, sound like a very nice and caring person. I have been around the block quite a bit, and I have never heard of a gang messing with someone for 12 hours without taking some type of action (more than harassing). They are usually sleeping, and have been sleeping, by this time of day.
Just guessing, the rehab was for drugs? If he tried to make some type of a deal with locals, and it went bad, sure the local law enforcement will just turn their head.
I recommend the local homeless shelter.Ghost Ryder, not4hire and Giggles the Original Thank this. -
GW, to imply i am lying adds sadness to an already very stressful day. i don't know what i would have to gain by lying, i am asking for ideas and prayers....i am telling you what Mike is telling us from 300 miles away. he is tired, scared and feels utterly alone there....
I will tell mike what you said about that being enough evidence and see if the sheriff will respond to that.
