I believe Illinois just passed the same law, you must be trained by a certified instructor, someone with just a cdl does not qualify.

When I got my Class A,.....I was working for a telephone cable construction company,....I "trained" with one of there old hands and tested out with their equipment,.....Did not cost me a dime,....In fact I was payed for all of my time training and for the time taking the road test,....

i know C1 will do 1 on 1 training with you for $60 an hour...which can save you time and moneyJustSonny Thanks this. -
If you were a little younger....you could join the Teamsters and go to their CDL school....You can try though....one of my uncles joined at 49 and retired last year with 16 years in...
That's one constructive use of the dues money.... -
Have you looked into going to school on a grant? I did and it was the best money I never spent! Good luck
