I also failed my ally dock in MA, I'm going again on the 22nd. I noticed on the permit there is only 3 spaces for failing and I got 1 of them checked off, what happens when all 3 get checked? There must be a limit where you test out in mass any idea what it is?

Of course Mass is,that's a trucker hater state. They like giving out unjustified tickets to truckers and they are not cheap.

I think it is 6 tests per permit. If you max out you would have to start over. My school won't make you do the course over, but you'll have to wait a year.

I have not read all the responses to the OP as there are just to many. Google Alley Dock and you will see some examples of trucks doing this. One is of a Prime student and if Prime can do it, anyone can.

The trick to this is not to over steer. Start by pulling past your final spot by the length of your tandems. So if your tandems are 10 feet from the end of the trailer pull an additional ten feet past your final spot. Then crank you steering all the way. Start backing slowly. As soon as the landing gear is visible in your mirror, you can crank the wheel all the way to the other direction. Instantly crank the wheel to the neutral position and you will be straight with your spot. Back until your trailer is where you want it.

Remember, pulling up cost you a point but getting out and Looking is free.

I know this sounds crazy...you said that you are having trouble remembering which way to turn the wheels.... set up your 90 then turn your wheels HARD right into a pretty strong jacknife, then hard left, hard right again (short distance) then hard left untill cab straight with truck

....smack into the hole..... after a few times, you will get a real feel for which way to turn your wheel throughout the manuver... you will figure out your set up distance by doing this also.... if you cut too short into the first cone, set up the same again, but start your 90 a few feet further back....

In just a day or so, you wil be able to smooth out the turns..................Just try it... Hard right with the wheel, hard left, hard right, hard left... several times...it will stick in your head to help you remember your ways to turn the wheel.

I failed my alley dock, I drive an automatic Kenworth T380 Day Cab, my trailer is 53’ and I failed cause I didn’t put myself in the right position? Are you allowed before you even start backing can you ask your tester if you can reposition yourself and does that count as a pull up?

    That's a alley dock?
I thought that was a 90 degree park.
