Who says that they didn't? The issue with downshifting is common. At first EVERYONE struggles with downshifting, they also have X amount of time to work with the students and that time is standardized to a degree, but if the student has issues with downshifting, they ALL will work on shifting more, but they also cannot hold an entire class back for one person unless they have the resources to do more. If 95% of people "get" a topic or a task and the 5% have issues with that task, it is up to that person to apply themselves to get better at the topic or task. If they cannot get up to speed on the task, then they will have to do whatever it takes to get better. Extra time, more training and that is almost never covered in the standard trucking school contracts. The schools do their best with what they got.. but if the driver cannot meet a standard, then they cannot meet the standard. VERY rarely does the student not meet up to the average skill to pass the skills test... but it happens. It doesn't mean that the person gets more or free training to make it happen.
