what's up fellas , I miss you guys but it was not a pleasant 6 months. After my wife agreed for me to go OTR I learned I had an open warrant since 1994 (I didn't know this thing existed) and as a result insurances wouldn't cover me. I took the steps to have it vacated but, because of Covid this took 6 months.
So as of December I am warrant free and tried finding local work but it was more difficult than I thought
I worked as an instructor at the school where I got my CDL (all it entailed was doing pre-trip all day and telling students turn left turn right)
On of the students who graduated called to offer to link me up with his boss going over the road as a team. So I'm taking off to Orlando on Monday and will begin my career as a truck driver.
Far as I know it is a 4 week out 5 days home, .50 a mile, I was told we can average between 5000 to 6000 miles weekly, $1400-$1600, ill be driving Freightliner Cascadia, everything is a drop and hook.
So, what am I missing? What should I be asking? And most importantly, how did you handle the first time butterflies?
I am excited though and look forward to hearing back from you

Congratulations on your new job. Now relax. After the first couple days the excitement will ease. Just take your time, especially when backing, and if something feels wrong, it probably is. Watch your mirrors and just don't hit anything.

Which company will you be running teams with.
    Is it W-2 or 1099?
Either way, congratulations and best wishes.

Glad things worked out. As stated the excitement where wear off quickly. What you are missing in a team operation. You have to be confident in the skills of a very inexperienced co driver. I don't know how much experience you have. If I'm the boss I'm not putting inexperienced drivers together on a team operation. I know you want to work but you do realize that truck is expected to put in 5k+ a week.

I hope all the best for both of you. Don't over look using wisdom. You are going to be teaming with someone you really don't know & sleep in that truck as well. That brings a whole different dynamic than just driving a truck. I'm just stating somethings that you may have missed.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade. I just know a team operation is not easy even with the person you know. Then add in inexperienced drivers together. I hope it goes well. I will say again. Don't over look using wisdom when making decisions. All the best on your journey

You can make good money running team. It can be hard work two people in a truck 24/7 at probably 1,200 miles a day or every 24 hours. One driver sleeps and other driving. Sleeping in a moving truck can take time getting used to. Probably quick shower and fuel and eat and keep going.

I was a trainer that ran as team in 65 MPH truck. We could only stop the truck 2 hours a day if I remember to still keep at 1,200 miles a day/24 hours. That not much time to fuel and shower and eat and bathroom.

Congrats! Honestly, I don’t think I’d like teaming much. But that’s pretty good at 4 on. 1 off.
Don’t forget! You get bonus points for running over pedestrians!

I have no clue, never worked for either company. I think most of the Megas are leaning that way though. Number one, the cost has gone down considerably over the last several years. Number 2, the new Clearinghouse rules have made them tighten up quite a bit. Screen new drivers a bit tighter, cut down on drug and alcohol related disciplinary actions. I'm sure these megas have entire departments and staff that deal only with all of the headaches that come with that territory!
