I finally remembered to ask this question about trucks or trailers that lift their axles

Our new trucks and tankers that have tag axles work on a weight sensor. No load, axle raises by its self. Lowers when weight is added.

They have drop axles on class b dumps that turn when you turn the wheel now too. No more destroyed tires from negligent drivers.

That happened to me once when I was driving a concrete mixer. I forgot to raise the push tires when I got to the job site. When I was backing up, it blew one of the push tire air bags out. It happened in front of an elementary school when everyone was there to pick up their kids. It sounded like a shotgun going off. Scared the hell out of everyone.

Lepton1, Brickwall and DSK333 Thank this.

Do you go to Canada at all? You can’t have manually operated lift axles up there.
