On a car last year, a friend was settled "totaled" as it was over 75% of then book value to repair. Now, if the "typical" book value has not been upped to the now inflated used truck market prices, you could easily be totaled.

Quite a ways out. They pipe daylight in each Monday and that area brightens up around noon on Thursday.

Wow I'm really glad to hear you're okay.

That's a good warning for all of us that no matter how much experience you have it sometimes happens.

    Everyone be extra vigilant.

Have you had any issues with tow bills or insurance or any of that?

Does your insurance provide for a rental truck?

Coffey, JoeyJunk and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

About 5 yrs ago a wheel loader backed in front of my neighbors mint condition ‘99 9900. Smashed the front end all up. They gave him a ridiculously low amount and wrote it off. He didn’t buy it back because nobody would insure it.

Main rub is that we lost a generation that could "install" a rebuild kit. Apparently the demand for them tapered off till not longer very profitable, or buyers got so rich they did not want to mess with the job.
Either way, I miss them. In old days; forklift repair 14 years, we would buy a kit, use what was needed (few parts-mostly gaskets), pigeon hole the remains. Next job, same. But; after a while, we had enough parts to make a fix or two with only cutting our own gaskets. A quantity of various paper, cork, asbestos, and rubber material sent many jobs out the door before week end and billing in mail. Invoiced as Repaired , Labor- ? hours , Parts-That kit #. Gave my gasket cutting die set to a former employee three months ago while emptying my Storage Max unit.

How you keep the pallet stacks from coming out the roof in those situations? Inquiring minds need to know. Seen some come loose on the "Highway to Hell" galas recently. Lotta roadside chain gang cross trailering going on. Tibbitts had it under control till the "rescuers" turned them loose. Turned it upside down and still loaded. Ace securement.
