OK, I've already read the good and bad about Prime so I kind of know what to expect. Sure, in a way, I've kind of sold my soul but when considering my situation it was the right thing to do. I have a wife and two kids and 56 cents in the bank. I have no CDL either. No job here is going to pay me over 10/hr. Right now, we're living under her mom's roof. It sucks. I even dropped out of college because it would have been two years for a associates degree and I haven't the time now.
My questions are:
1) Is it too much to expect a year under Prime will get me a better shot finding a regional job?
2) I don't plan to lease, although my friend for over 30 years does and will be my trainer. So, are the days you get off riding company bankable?
I'll update my experience as well. I'm thinking this forum will be my internet home for quite some time too. Also, forgive me if I keep asking questions but I'll make sure I ask them in this topic.

Curious; if "your friend" leases (I assume with Prime) and will be your trainer why do you not ask him/her these questions?
Best of luck to you! -
Oh, I ask him questions every day about stuff. I'm looking for info from the company side of things. He went right into leasing so I'm trying to get info from both sides.
I guess I'm just nervous, that's all. -
try not to be so quick in leaving after you reach the one year. prime has other divisions if i am not mistaken. you could continue to get more "free training" in each division. then too, you could be offered a driver-trainers job, and earn more money than you could ever imagine, while still being a
"company employee" and not an o/o........
prime may also have dedicated accounts in your area you would be ideal for as well. you might do very well at prime. -
I live in southern New Jersey so I should look that up.

I am going to Prime in October. Best of Luck. -
October??!!?? How did you get ok'd that far out?
-
yes you can have a better shot at a local job with a years exp. my first advise is to learn to sleep in a moving truck while training at prime and learn to sleep at different hours.once you get that down remember during training you either be driving or sleeping and spending all your time with a person that you dont know.just a couple things to think about.
