Sure... a driver without a CDL isn't going to be able to compete for any driving job, and Prime's training is some of the best in the business. Even with just one year's experience, its my opinion you'll have a hard time finding something more local than OTR - but you'll not know unless you try.
No. To be paid, you must be available for dispatch. While you're on hometime, by definition, you're not available for dispatch. Keep that in mind when you're training as well. You've got to be on the truck to get paid. Once you're on your own (A-seat, solo) you're eligable for 5 days of paid vacation every 125,000 dispatched miles. That works out to around once a year depending on how hard you're running.
Good luck man! Don't let the nay-sayers get you down. I think they'd screw-up a wet dream given the opportunity. Prime's worked well for me on both the company and lease side.

We all pretty much know to stay away from the lease deal while new. I think solo, for the company, is the way to go for the first few years. -
Ironpony, I was referring to the 1 day you get for every 7. What I meant by bankable is if I go a month without taking any days, can I then use those days accordingly? Meaning...taking 4 days off in a row for every six weeks or so that I work.
Sorry for any confusion. I really appreciate your answers (and the links) too. -
