So I got a ticket in Atlanta on the beltway loop. Ticket is for "Trucks over 6 wheels in certain lanes"

Court date is for 10 weeks from now. My record is spotless clean before getting this ticket. I am thinking about getting a lawyer and fighting it. When should I let my company know about the ticket?

i can't say for sure, but i thought with-in 7 business days? , but you need to be in court? make sure you give them notice that you need to be having a day or 2 off.

Immediately. Every year carriers will ask you about any ticket and will check your MVR annually. Also, I think you re supposed to let them know within 30 days of getting a ticket

Not a horrible ticket though compared to Speeding and stuff like that. Yeah I think 30 days but I generally let them know asap. Since it was in a CMV they’ll need a copy cause it goes on the companies csa.

What is your companies policy? By law you only need to tell them of a citation at the end of the year. And even then it's only convictions.

If your company wants convictions, wait until it 's adjudicated, then let them know. If it gets dismissed, it never happened. If it gets moved to a non-moving violation, again company policy prevails.

If your company wants to know as soon as you get a ticket, go drive for a company that's not so p[icky and getting into personal business that is non of their business.

Nope. An inspection report goes on the CSA. The ticket on the other hand does not. There could easily be a 3rd lane ticket with no inspection.

Shouldn't I wait until after my court date, a ticket is simply an accusation not a conviction yet. What are my chances of a lawyer beating the ticket, thus no points.

If it happened in a CMV which is owned by the company they need to know. It’s goes on the companies CSA score. If they find out they can terminate him if he doesn’t tell them.

Better try to fight it. And at least watch what goes on your mvr. I knew a guy that got a ticket in Atlanta for being in the wrong lane on 285. When his home state got the info, they didn't have any corresponding violations in their state so they put it as an unsafe lane change on his mvr. He had a heck of a time getting it changed.

I am from North Georgia. I have seen maybe 10 people come to court fighting these lane tickets and tickets from being inside the 285 Loop. I have not seen any but one get the case tossed. The one that got tossed the trooper that wrote the ticket admitted the driver was forced over. Just about every cop State County and City use Cameras and will record you being in the lane. Once the Judge see's this video your gonna be dead in the water unless you can come up with a good reason to have been in that lane. Don't fall for that truck stop garbage you hear about all you got to do is take it to court. It don't work. If you were in the lane illegally you are most likely going to lose this. Sorry this is from direct experience. You are not required to notify your company until this charge becomes a conviction.
