Companies I am looking now Schneider, Con-Way, Prime, Averitt, Swift, J.B. Hunt, YRC Worldwide, Landstar, Werner, US Xpxress, CRST, Saia and Crete. Out of the ones you mentioned, Schneider or Prime would be my choice or at least, the lesser of the evils. Pretty sure Landstar is all owner ops. Don't know anything about Saia.

look into smaller companies also if you want to be more than a number started with werner and lasted 3 months 4 months later found a small company that hired me with in 3 months i knew all dispatchers office help and mechanics was a much better fit than werners i beleive a small company would get your carrer off to better start

I agree with what bob said. I have worked for Crete and Werner. I personally did not like Crete, I know a lot of drivers that do like them. Werner was short lived, they treated me ok, but that was it, just ok. When I would run into other Werner drivers on the road they were not very friendly at all. Now I work for Andrus out of Saint George, UT, I like them they treat me well and I get miles, they are strictly 11 western but I am making more miles now than I ever did with Crete.

What are you looking to do local, regional or OTR?
Where you live and where is the nearest terminal?
There are alot of companies out there, You have only named some of the largest, there are many mid-small sized companies that you should be looking at.

i liked conway. dont run team for them though, the teams i talked to said a GOOD week was 5000 miles, average more like 4k-4500...horrible. only 2 to stay away from imo that you mentioned are crst and swift. you didnt mention cr england, also stay away. again, just my opinion.

it really dont matter to much who start out with, your going to get crap loads to start,it's a test to see what you'll take and do,but I agree with 900,000 Prime would be a lesser of the evils out there.the last con-way driver i talked to a few years back was happy.just keep in mind you will hear bad about every one out there it dosent mean there are all bad copmanies to run for, your 1st year will be your hardest. Good Luck

The names that you mentioned are a mix of LTL and OTR Truck Load, Conway is a LTL company as is YRC Worldwide and Saia, All LTL have linehaul positions, i am not sure about Conway else where but in Milwaukee area from what i've heard from former drivers is that they will abuse the heck out of you as in split shift work and all different start times etc.etc. If you can deal with that, they have great pay, benifits. The top pay is around $23.00 to $25.00 an hour, it depends on where you live.I believe Averitt has local and OTR at least in the Milwaukee area they do.Saia i believe is $18.00 something to start,YRC Worldwide is a union LTL, all the rest are OTR Truckload, so it depends on which way you would like to go, Local LTL or OTR Truckload. only you can chose on which way to go.
