When I was with Roehl the company standard was pretty much 15 minutes for a pre trip and post, as long as you sent your DVIR message at the beginning or end of the day then they didn't complain too much.
I always showed 10-15 for a pre trip. For a post trip I did a 3 minute section since on Qualcomm e logs, 3 minutes is the minimum for it to flag anything.
For me, when I got my truck for the first time and got used to it I'd do about a 2 hour look over of the whole truck, every little space was looked at. Then After that it was pretty much just a walk around. With doing a thorough pre trip about once every two weeks. Since I knew certain things weren't going to deplete after a week of using them.
My dispatcher said "wow, you can do a 3 minute post trip? Ill have to see that to believe it." Went to marshfield and did it in 2 minutes, I log 3 just so it will show for the company to see it.

Can you elaborate on Florida laws? I've worked with people who were let go because of no reason what so ever. Unless those laws differ in other right to work states
-
Well, my comment should have come with an asterisk. An employer can fire anyone they want, but of course they could face things such as unemployment claims or even lawsuits if the employee chooses.
I know of one person that was let go, and has filed a lawsuit for age discrimination. Just an example, BUT an employer does not have to keep anyone they do not want.cozy2963 Thanks this. -
There has to be a reason why someone was let go from a company, even if that reason was illegal. No one was ever 'let go' for no reason whatsoever. And RTW only means an employee has an option to work for a unionized company and not be part of the union. This doesn't conclude you'll loose your job at the top of a hat for no reason whatsoever.

the "right to work law" means you do not have to be forced to join a union to be hired in a union shop.
you have the right to work there and be non-union.
look it up.Last edited: Jan 19, 2013

Union lovers must think you're going to get fired any day working at a non-union establishment.

It's like I posted earlier, it's AT WILL we are talking about. If it's an AT WILL company. you can quit for no reason and they can fire you for no reason.

a right to work state, no reason has to be given upon termination. It is at will of the employer.
You may be fired at any time for no reason, with no warning. -
not a clue......
