She probably drove all her time the day before ... Plus doing a split sleeper berth when you only have to wait 5 min isn't worth it cause then during the day sometime you would still have to stop for 2 hrs

-
home break or not, still could of been on line 2, but gotcha on the used up 14
-
You can't log sleeper from home.
-
Yeah ... Meltom is right cause that would again be falsifying a log, her biggest problem in the first place ... Side Box are you sure you're not the OP's boss???
-
Are you on electronic logs

Interesting thread, I'd like to know the eventual outcome "when / if it settles" Just for my .02 my even though FMCSA does not specify it to the letter, My carrier REQUIRES a 15 min log entry for Pre - and Post inspections and requires them to be flagged as such. It is their policy and I agreed to it when I signed on, so that's how I'll log it. No matter what I MUST have make or save enough time remaining on my 14 to log the 15 min. post trip *Note we use elogs / eobr's

Only thing the 14 counts on is driving. You can't drive after the 14th hour, but you can do all the "on-duty" you want to, after the 14th hour, legally.RickG Thanks this.

here are some other dot regs and the interpretation:
§ 392.7Equipment, inspection and use. (a) No commercial motor vehicle shall be driven unless the driver is satisfied that the following parts and accessories are in good working order, nor shall any driver fail to use or make use of such parts and accessories when and as needed: Service brakes, including trailer brake connections.Parking (hand) brake.Steering mechanism.Lighting devices and reflectors.Tires.Horn.Windshield wiper or wipers.Rear-vision mirror or mirrors.Coupling devices. (b) Drivers preparing to transport intermodal equipment must make an inspection of the following components, and must be satisfied they are in good working order before the equipment is operated over the road. Drivers who operate the equipment over the road shall be deemed to have confirmed the following components were in good working order when the driver accepted the equipment: Service brake components that are readily visible to a driver performing as thorough a visual inspection as possible without physically going under the vehicle, and trailer brake connections.Lighting devices, lamps, markers, and conspicuity marking materialWheels, rims, lugs, tiresAir line connections, hoses, and couplersKing pin upper coupling deviceRails or support framesTie down bolstersLocking pins, clevises, clamps, or hooksSliders or sliding frame lock[33 FR 19732, Dec. 25, 1968, as amended at 60 FR 38746, July 28, 1995; 73 FR 76823, Dec. 17, 2008; 74 FR 68708, Dec. 29, 2009]
[h=3]§392.7 Equipment, inspection and use.[/h]Question 1: Must a driver prepare a written report of a pretrip inspection performed under §392.7?
Guidance: No.
Question 2: Must both drivers of a team operation comply with the provisions of §392.7 before driving?
Guidance:§392.7 states that a driver must be satisfied that the vehicle is in good working order before operating the vehicle. If a driver is satisfied with a co-drivers inspection, or a safety lane inspection, then the requirement of this section will have been met.
The company I work for uses e-logs and they require both a pre and post trip from myself and my co-driver. we can not do the inspections at the same time ie.. my pre and his post. All inspections must be a min of 10 mins. Not dot regs but company regs. -
Sure you can if the truck's in the driveway .
