It's all good, everyone gets to pick and choose their battles. We don't have to like, agree, or understand it. She stood up for what she thought was right and there is something to be said about that.

Wait....there must be some confusion......paper logs are flexible as to the nearest min....as compared to the E-log which is accurate to the min. My pre trip takes 5-15 min depending on how much needs to be checked. no one has told me I have to use 15 min on an e log! so why the huff over a couple of min???? Now this driver in the OP screwed up an got fired for trying to obey some imaginary clock in the DOT officers mind.....Get Real! Stop being a slave to the clock....Just log it as close as to the actual time and keep it legal (show a ten hr break) and stay within the 11/14 rule.

Quality Carriers has e-logs and requires 15 minutes for both pretrip and posttrip .

This is what I'd like to require as well, I just want to reduce the exposure of my company if/when we end up in court.

When I drove for Barney Trucking, they had Elogs. When you first came on Duty, you would log in and hit the pre-trip macro thingee and if that truck registered movement before 14:99 minutes were up, you got a safety violation.
