I'll get into the details quickly. Pulled out of pilot this morning in Kearney mo. Went out the same way I came in. Anyhow I made a wrong turn. missed the signs that said turn the other way and ended up hitting a woman that tried to pass me while making a wide turn to compensate for the close quarters.
In any other situation it would have been her fault, but I was on the wrong road. Very minor damage and everyone was okay and drove home at the end, which is good. My fault and stupid mistake.
Anyhow I was wondering if you guys had any advice as to how to proceed with this to protect my career and livelihood. A police report was filed and a moving violation with at fault accident issued to me. Would it be wise to hire a lawyer and maybe fight it?
Not too sure what my current employer will do with me, I guess I will find out tomorrow. Is this a horrible incident? Should I be more than worried about my future, not exactly with my company but within the industry?
Really looking for advice maybe from someone who has been in a similar situation.
And yes guys I know I ###### up. Keep the #### on the minimum if possible.
I got into an accident today. Questions

If damages are below a certain amount (I forgat amount.. $2500.00?) And if both vehicles drove away it wont go on your driving record but it will be in the company's you work for.
It does not matter any more if we fight accidents or not, the outcomes are the same under CSA scores.hal380 Thanks this. -
Fight what? A bunch of signs around the turn and you still wanna fight it?

Tried to pass you while you were making a wide turn ? Even though you're on a wrong road, it doesn't give people the right to break the law. I would say it's contributory negligence. Safety's going to say you didn't read signs, made an unauthorized turn collided with someone and were cited. And that don't look good, right ? Good luck .

Your first preventable accident, but it wasn't anything too major.
Would be a shame if the company got rid of you for it. I think you're alright, though.Last edited: Sep 9, 2014
