What do you think?

  1. You'll be fine, it sounds like you've prepared well. Have fun.

    .
I couldn't imagine having to lift 10k of furniture up to the height of a freight trailer! But good thing is if he has only 10k not furniture he can just run it in head high and only need one strap at the end for his matts.

    UPDATE -

    - Got my CDL 11/28/2017. It feels good. I love driving big trucks. Cost: $450
    - December 2017 Bought a 2005 30-foot Winnebago Class A motorcoach to get used to the height and weight of a larger vehicle - plus, it was a great deal and the family will have loads of fun in it. 2004 F-53 chassis, Triton V-10, (15,020 pounds across the scale, 18,000 GVWR, 26,000 GCWR). Been driving it for about 3000 miles with no incident. Really fun.
    - Closing on a home purchase April 5
    - Closing on my home sale June 5

Considering everything in this 11-page thread, here are the showstoppers:
    - Risk, Liability, uneducated HP Officers, Chicken coop danger
    - No liftgate, dock-height, no ramp on a 53'

Final Analysis: I'll not be renting a semi.

Any O/O wanna take my house to Colorado in June?

It's been great. Thank you for all the advice. (even Ridgeline)

I may just rent a tractor for a day and take my son for a bobtail ride...

    driverdriver and ncdriver1 Thank this.

all the fun, none of the risk, sounds like a great plan.
owner ops probably can't haul your goods as most of them (probably near all of them) don't have HHG authority. You'll need a moving company but there's plenty out there.

Dantheman, if you're still wanting to have everything put in a dry van, I might have a connection in IL for you.
