This is encouraging to read! Thanks for the update.

I average 375-425 miles a day and around 380 barrels a day. That's only doing two loads a day. Sometimes you can get 3 and it goes up. In training you can only work 5 days. Once you get on your own you can pick up a sixth day to increase your weekly total. My advice to those coming here is to forget what you think you know and leave your ego at home. They do things their way and expect you to do the same. It really is a pretty easy job. You just need to develop a routine and stick with it. Accidents and spills are not tolerated here. You are on probation for 6 months so you need to toe the line and listen and learn.taz125, sanook, TruckinBuc and 1 other person Thank this.

Equipment is decent. We do have some older trucks but they are replacing them as fast as they can. housing is available here, just have to look around. there are RV parks in the area.sanook Thanks this.

So it has been a few months, how do you like it? How is the pay? I know that they give a 3k relocation bonus. Do you get that immediately or after a month or what? That is my main concern bc I kinda need that to get a place to stay or I'll be living in my car until I can get it.

I have the same questions as chud3 about Sunoco and the relocation expenses. It sounds like by the time I get through the hiring process I'm gonna be getting pretty tight with the dollars.
I've been contacted by a Sunoco recruiter...I'm fresh out of school with a TX endorsement, currently living in Las Vegas.
I told the recruiter I was willing to move anywhere but prefer Southern or Western states. She said Midland TX area or possibly OK....either are fine with me.
It sounds like she's shooting for Midland first.
About me, I'm 47 a bit heavy but muscular...able to work pretty hard.
I've been driving a taxi here in LV for a bit and was a bouncer before that.
I'm single with no kids so I'm pretty free to go wherever and don't need much in the way of accommodations. I do have a couple of cats though...
How is it finding a 1x1 in Midland/Odessa?
Is the training at the home office or where you're going to be located?
What are the clothing requirements?
Thanks for any answers! -
You get the bonus after you produce a lease agreement proving you live within 50 miles of the terminal. It takes a few weeks to get it after you submit the paperwork.

I think you will have a tough time in Midland with housing. Training is done at the terminal you will be working out of, however orientation is in Abilene and lasts 4 days. Company provides FR clothing that is laundered by Cintas. If you can get on in San Angelo you should have an easier time with housing plus this area is really starting to grow in the oilfield sector.

Wow! Thanks for the fast response!
I was asking about Midland because the recruiter said that was where she was sending my info.
So 4 days in Abilene then training in Midland? I can handle that...It's just about getting an apartment...I see plenty of ads for around $1,000-1,300/mo for a 1x1...is that about right?
