None of our 8's ever had an arch. The sweeps, the cage, and the exhaust tell me it's a logging cat.

Do you know what the excavator weighed? Was he using 1/2 binders? Or 5/8 or 3/8?

    Oxbow and Razororange Thank this.

A half inch binder is rated at 12k. 4 is legally enough to secure about anything on a seven axle truck.

    Oxbow and Razororange Thank this.

Depending on the binders and the weight of the machine it might be enough. Without knowing the machine or what size binders he had there's no way to know.

If he was using 5/8 binders rated at 15,000 WLL each he could legally secure a machine weighing up to 60,000 lbs with them running direct from the tracks to the rail as long as the rail was rated for it. 4 point on the machine is legal as long as he has enough WLL on it. Add 1 on the stick like he did and it's all good.

That should be plenty on something like a CAT 320 or 325.

After looking them up yes. I don't haul equipement like that so I didn't know their weights.;)

The 325B L is listed as 60,600 on Ritchie Bros but you'd probably be fine.
