I can't see either, but it looks like a 77V D8K to me, which would put it at around 70,000 lbs. The 8Ks had the exhaust like that.
I cannot tell if the dozer lift arms are there or not, but I don't see the trunions for the push arms, so maybe it is being used strictly as a winch cat. It is quite a bit bigger than what I have seen used as a skid cat, and the skid cats usually have some sort of narrow dozer to push up the log decks.
Either way, it sure doesn't look like that is enough trailer for it, despite how it was loaded.
I got the coils figured, now dozers

D8's were often used bald faced as they are so wide that with the blade is hard to maneuver in the woods. Some USFS jobs we were not allowed to skid with our 46A.
1951 ford, Razororange, passingthru69 and 2 others Thank this. -
And before any current or former JB drivers get their feelings hurt, I'm not condemning all JB'ers, I'm sure there are some fine ones around. But they did employ what was at the time titled as step-father & well, that isn't what I would consider as being a glowing example. I've seen sharper baseballs.Last edited: Jun 4, 2017

That was a JB truck, DCS,
Just east of Springdale on 412.
Made a hard stop but didn't run the light, didn't hit anything but there were fatalities, note the red spots. Wonder if that makes it a dot reportable accident?Boattlebot, Oxbow, cke and 6 others Thank this. -
I hit a cow years ago who wandered out on tbe highway. Next morning I'm in the phone with safety about the accident
The lady asked if any deaths. Yes I sadly replied. She then asked who died and how. I replied cow wondered out on the road at night, it was dark and cow was black. She saw no humor in that. I said you asked I answeredK Wopper906, Mr. Griz, Boattlebot and 18 others Thank this. -

Yea it did do some damage. Sad thing was I only had the trk 5 days. Guy I worked for bought me a newer trk. I gave up a cabover Pete for a Volvo.. please don't start. Head kill right front corner of the trk.
Down through the bar ditch, broke through the barb wire fence. Up one side of a dry stock tank. Got thrown out of the seat. Yea no seat belt. Not mandatory then..
I drove the trk to deliver in SD. Then to Mn to the bodyshop. Only tore up 2 right steer tires to get there.
Bent the steer axle, busted out the headlight assembly, tore up the battery box. Still legal somewhat.
Ld stayed on the trl. I had a cell phone tower on the trl. All in pieces to be put together in site. The cow crapped on my Alum rims in her last act of revenge lol
It's a ride I never wanna take again.
Was listening to Deep Purple Knocking at your backdoor. Tunes cranked up..
Will not state the speed I was going
Would not make Scottie67 happy.... -
